  2. He has been in touch and apologised. He is offering to put it right. Still a bit gutted, but hopefully be OK.

I hate people with super shiny perfect buses, it makes every job so much harder.:D
A slightly battered one is so much easier to deal with.
Nightmare for your gas chap too, but TBH he does sound careless.
First thing i did after installing £100+ of posh flooring was to drag furniture over it that had an unseen protruding screw and quietly added a foot long scratch across the floor. :(

  4. I feel your pain... Ouch!

At least I did it to myself, it's not so bad when you only have yourself to blame. :)

  6. Paint refresh! I know I have done the restore in the wrong order, but the body work guys had a cancelled booking. The slide door bottom has been replaced, as it was mostly filler, and the bottom of the passenger cab door repaired. Other than that, there were a few minor rust bubbles to attend to.

Will be all back together by the end of the week.

  7. Thanks for sharing skutterbob! It's really good to see how you've done it all .... I've been talking to Paul and Adam about my interior too and will def check out dubteriors now as well. Plus you've given me new found confidence to do aspects myself! How long did the interior take you - from strip out of the old one and painting/insulating to finishing? Cheers

  8. Hi Nikki

I started in September last year and to be honest I could have done it quicker if I had concentrated on it more. I have my own welder, so I did most of the non-structual work on inside (There was just a bit near the rear wheel arch.

The strip out took of the old interior took about three hours, scrubbing and painting the floor were about three weekends including welding. The floor was 1 day to put the wood in, then 1 weekend to do the tiles. The insulation took another weekend in total. It was actually over three, but I had to wait for more to arrive and Mrs Skutterbob wanted to have some time with me! (Matron!). The bed took 1 day to fit as I had to put in a support batten and line it all up.

Dav, from Dubteriors suggested the lights and I got them from EBay. I fitted the side ones and left cables out for Adam. The interior took about a month including going back for the seat pads.

Dav fitted the interior in two days, and Adam did the electrics over two days. The body work has taken about 5 weeks because of waiting for the temperature to warm up enough to spray.

Of course things like Christmas and family outings have got in the way and I am not the fastest at doing anything. It is a tough slog at times but hopefully worth it.

I still have two wheel arches to scrub/paint yet and some parts of the underneath where I have welded.

    Phew!

  9. Make sure you stock up on decent dust masks, gloves and ear defenders. Inside an empty bus is a noisy place when using a drill.

I used a dust mask that takes cartridges - better than paper ones, nitrile disposable gloves as they are stronger than latex and a face mask similar to the ones you see tree surgeons use. It does not steam up.

  10. Curtains fitted. I has to remove the head cracker box to drill in the poppers.

  12. 6 Sir William's Ln, Aylsham, Norwich NR11 6AW

From Norwich, turn right at roundabout then left further up road. It is at his house - there is a new housing estate going up nearby.
