Pop Top Head Liner

  1. Hi all, I'm new here so go steady, I've got a 1976 Devon conversion with the two mushroom vent at the back. The previous owner has fitted a cream vinyl to the inside of the fibre glass pop top problem is, now as its getting hot its all falling down. So question is what to do? Glue it back up, but what glue to use? or try something else I'm open to options.
    All help much appreciated.

  2. Likely done with spray glue but has it's limitations. I would use high temp high strength contact adhesive but would have glued it to fibreboard then stuck the board up using clear silicone sealant. Spreading glue won't be easy (or clean) with your arms above your head - good luck

  3. Hmm I've been putting this off! There are metal brackets at the sides on ours and I was going to fit timber battens down both sides and the centre. I am planning to stick Celotex 20mm insulation in place of the polystyrene using solvent free Sticks Like. Finally I will board the insulation with thin ply covered in vinyl and glue to the Celotex along with three rows of screws and cups in the timber. That way we won't get a smack on the head while asleep Hope you get on ok. I am planning to do this over winter. Still running the engine in! Keep us posted on your progress

  4. Thanks for that I was think along the lines of fibreboard, instead of just gluing it up
