yeah, its pretty rubbish, but hopefully will get a new B&P setup soon, then i can be back to where i was before, only with an even emptier bank account! being unemployed SUCKS!!!!
sorry ive been a bit lacking in the update department, but have been majorly busy!! the engine is all built up now, a big thanks to outlaw for the barrels/pistons/pushrod tubes! and its in... many times recently i wasnt sure this day was going to come this century... and while the engine was being built up by me, this happened.. these are my half finished, half arsed chassis legs that cost me way more than they should have... no engine support bar mounts, and the rear bumper welded on because no nuts were welded into them... has taught me not to trust other people with my bus because im rushing.. i will NOT be making that mistake again. and i did bosh over most of the engine bay with a black rattle can just to make it look a bit better (from 20 paces haha) but on a much lighter note, the CV boots have all been done, and those who said it was the messiest job id do, were all shades of correct!!! so that is positive progress at least! a huge thanks to Keith.H for the bolts/grease! was a great help! and today, using no tools, no engine pulling, just my hands and sheer determination, the throttle cable is through the tube in the doghouse and attached to the carb so that was a great result, considering most people thought i would have to pull the engine back out, which definitely was not top of my list of things to do!! currently, the engine turns over but wont fire, so soon will come the standard fuel/spark/comp/tappets/timing tests, and then hopefully i will make it go. if not, i may hide in a corner and weep, but im hoping it wont come to that..... and once he runs, its time to combat this issue.. the inside of my roof..... note the previous owners beautifully done hole removal..... and to finish on a high, a pic of my new way to fill him with oil, without the use of the elusive funnel that hides every time its needed, and without just pouring oil all over my engine bay.. is the perfect tool for the job! happy days. more progress to come soon... watch this spacehopper...
haha yeah!! i took me bout an hour of fannying about, but i got there in the end... and then did a bit of a victory dance..
Leave the bumper welded on thats ok for now Scrape that underseal off as its not supposed to go over bare seal the guy has used it as a covering agent without thought The tubes for the engine mounts can still be put in it just needs some good measuring Keep at it dude i for one want you to suceed
thanks Para, im workin on it will get that Schultz off and put the tubes in, but will be getting it running first, thats the priority at the minute. once thats done i can get everything else done in a much more cheery fashion!
not much of an update if im honest this time.. but now he has been moved to his temporary new home (although i have to move him again next thursday, which is a bit of a bummer..) a pic of what has become a much too familiar sight... although while driving through bristol with it i did get my first compliments from random members of the public, even though they talking to me through the towtruck window at traffic lights! which i thought was rather nice and getting this pic of the unloading definitely added to my insatiable lust for lowering!! haha i want my bus in the weeds and i want it slammed now!!! haha today i managed to get the plug out to ascertain where the actual TDC was, so that was definitely a step in the right direction and i checked all the front suspension and steering stuff for play/split ball joints, that kind of thing, and that all seems good.. and thanks to recommendations from you guys i have Martin from Bristol Cherished Cars coming out monday afternoon, to help me get it started and do a couple other little bits and bobs.. so HOPEFULLY, i will good news for you soon..
thanks para!!! your a lifesaver once i have moved the bus again to its (new) new home, then i will be able to get the bit of tin you need headed in your general direction got rid of that people carrier that was causing all kinds of nightmare today ( '00 plate, good engine = £80 apparently.. b***ards..) and also may have found a new one for 250 quid, so that will solve that problem, and attention can return to where it should have been all along... my lovely bus
Got a very pleasant package from a doddery old postman today which had come from the Para camp Thanking Mr paradox very much! also got a new compression tester through the post that i definitely dont remember buying.. and have no idea where its come from... which is nice, considering mine has definitely been on the way out for a long time...
