  1. I have 3 allocated spaces for my house, the bus occupies one of them. I always thought the clause was that I couldnt do it as a business from my home. Im calling my housing association Tomorrow for clarification though

Leave anything that is t motable, sills are pretty involved I'm doing some this week, what else you gotta do, I'd say a weekend to do one sill is reasonable but not easily doable, how's the floor above it, jacking points, rear arch tubs etc?

  3. Floor, tophats and chassis is good. Ns front jacking point and outrigger were rotted out so I cut them out. Outer sills are good, middle and inners are shot the bottom two thirds. And its a twin slider so two door tracks to consider

  4. get it in writing....

  6. I'm afraid I'm guessing as this would come under civil law.
Check your tenancy agreement closely as here will no doubt be some small print used by the housing associations. Even private houses can have a covenant dictating colour of the paint on your front door not just using the house for business.
Citizens advice or solicitor would be my port of call.

  7. I had much the same kick up when my Very nosey landlord "popped by" when I was taking the engine out of sprout. He timed it well, just as I was wheeling it into the garage. asked me if the pickup was mine. He felt that it was dangerous to store the engine in the garage.. (no idea what he thought was in the front of most cars). He complained to the estate agents and asked them to tell me that I wasnt allowed to fix my car on the drive. (there was no clause in any of the tennancy stuff to say this. Then, more recently he complained as he noticed that we had a large tent on the front drive (i'm about to do a respray). He complained to the estate agents again and told them to tell me to take it down. I asked what for and they said, the landlord was passing (we live in a cul-de-sac) and said that he doesnt like the look of a tent outside his property. I reminded the estate agent that there was nothing to state that a temporary garage could not be erected, and also of the fact that whilst I was paying rent, he had no right to say what can and cant go infront of the house. All of the neighbours are fine with it as it looks better than a rusty shell and they dont have to look at me plodding around all day covering their cars and houses in dust.

stick to your guns, get it checked with the housing association and in the meantime pull your finger out and get cracking. I'm working on mine every night after work (no power tools in order to keep the neighbours happy) and all of the noisy stuff gets done in the day times when the builders across the road start up. :)

  8. some people's attitudes beggar belief....wtf is dangerous about storing an engine in a garage? it'd be more 'dangerous' to leave it outside as a trip hazard! your Landlord sounds like an a hole

  12. or you could claim you're a post modernist ironic artist and it's a Dadaesque installation depicting the ultimate futility of progress

Got some stuff listed on ebay so as soon as it ends i'll use the cash to get an order in to schofields then it'll be a week or two of afternoons welding and Test at the end of the month hopefully.....thats the plan at least :)

  14. Very kind of you buddy. May take you up on that :)

  15. I don't think Dada really did installations,
I think a 'readymade' would be nearer the mark.

  16. Spoke to the housing association this morning....Turns out there is a covenant on the site that apparently forbids working on vehicles beyond minor stuff, washing etc.
The problems that have been raised by the residents association Are apparently that its up on stands, under a cover, looks derelict and is not a roadworthy vehicle and so shouldnt be parked there lol
I pointed out that even in its current state of disrepair its still worth several thousand pounds, and that an MOT will not change the appearance of it so how it looks now is how itll look until I get around to painting it lol As far as the HA are concerned though, as long as its MOT'd its roadworthy and they can tell the RA where to put their moans.
Im looking into when the next residents association Meeting is, as I plan on attending As im curious to see if theyre quite so brave with the petty complaints when im in the room to answer them lol
In the meantime, its gonna be a case of cracking on as soon as I have some panel money.

  17. I also took the liberty of reporting a Saab 95 that has four flat tyres and an inch of moss all over it and hasnt moved in over a year......its parked outside one of the houses over the posh end :p

  18. twin slider sills, do I need to order one for lhd bus sliding door side and one for rhd? chopping out the offside belly pan tomorrow and while im ever hopeful it wont be as bad as the nearside, itll be my luck to find its worse lol

  19. Inner sills are the same regardless of sliding door or not... the middle and outer sills will need to be for a sliding door
