Paras bus resto

  1. Ahh I didn’t realise you hadn’t a large enough compressor to run it
I just remember you blasting the front panel.

    This is my compressor [IMG]

I’m not sure if it will push enough air to run it or not

It’s the dash top and the firewall I’d like to get done first.
Then later on my Devon spare wheel carrier, bumpers and a section off my roo bar

  2. Ah ok. Yeah I doubt that’ll put out enough air to do it. I think the most important bit is to have plenty of storage in a big tank because even a big pump still struggles to keep up.

Sorry that’s not much help dude. Does the farmer have a big compressor? Most farmers have good workshops

  3. It’s not a big farm it’s more like a small holding and no compressor.
Not to worry fella I’ll strip them with wire wheels, strip and clean discs etc I was just asking in the hope of saving time.

  4. I’ve made a start on removing years of muck, grease and wax from inside one of the rear air vents.

It’s never going to be perfect in there but if I can get it tidier and a little more protected I’ll be happy

I was thinking both of these things.

I can’t see what’s left to get it moving & mot’d. Sure there’s a few things but it doesn’t need an interior for an mot.

Common para your in danger of actually getting this on the road!!

  8. Now that it’s steering and braking yes it is closer to being drivable but it’s not as simple as people think.

For a start I’ve a heart condition and I’m supposed to be taking it easy
The fact my heart is only pumping at 40% efficiency makes everything harder as well as the meds I’m taking making me feel awful.

I’m now skint after paying out for parts to get it moving and braking so it can be moved as I’m no longer allowed to work on it or keep it here.
I need to get the money together to get it transported away from here.
There’s lots of things still to buy
Like a clutch, release bearing, fuel filler pipe and neck
Earth straps, fuel pipe countless other little bits as well
The engine bay needs prepping and painting before an engine can go in.
There’s the wiring loom to repair and fit which will mean buying crimps, crimping tools conduit etc
Then there’s the engine itself to build which needs machine shop work.

There’s all of that to do to get it for an mot
But that still leaves me with a lot of bodywork and painting to do.

I also have my mum with cancer and a busy family life to contend with as well.

So looking from afar people might think I just need to Chuck an engine in it but it’s not as simple as that.

I will get there in the end but in my own time!

It’s as simple as you want it to be para.

There’s no more body work that ‘needs’ doing. Mattlad offered a engine to get you running. That only leaves a bit of wiring and fuel.

Get it going before your kids are too old to enjoy it.

Make a simple list of what’s needed to actually get it to an mot station and see if anyone has ‘spare’ parts they can sell/donate.

As you've always said to me "Slowly Slowly Catchy Monkey". Catch him when you're ready.
Your's is a standard 1.6 right? I think I've a spare release bearing that's yours if it's the correct one.

  11. It serves no purpose to Chuck it back together just to say it’s road legal
It will only serve to make things more difficult, time consuming and costly down the line.
Even if it were road legal it’s an empty van and gives no camping benefit.

You mention my kids not being able to enjoy it.
My eldest is nearly 20 and has no interest in camping in any way shape or form.
My youngest is quite happy with our camping trips with the trailer and tent.

The van is not our only route to enjoyment and happiness in life.

All this repetitive just Chuck an engine in and drive it type comments are becoming tiresome.

I will finish it in my own time in my own way!

  12. what is becoming tiresome is the constant feeling sorry for yourself ...
You are the only person ever in my life to have threatened me with physical violence ...yes I haven`t forgotten ....
Karma as they say is a bitch .....

stick it up for sale ...no wait you have done that about ten times seeking attention ..

finish it ...don`t finish it ..who really cares ...

These guys were only trying to help ...more fool them

  13. I have never advertised my bus for sale.
I am not feeling sorry for myself.

I just update my thread as I progress

If you don’t really care then why bother to post in my resto thread.

    Agreed.

Para if it gives you no excitement to finish then bin it off. You have said many a times about selling. Latest recently when you had your heart attack. At least get it finished before your heart finishes you off

  18. I can see both sides but ....

His bus his rules , if @paradox choses to take forever doing what he does it matters not a jot , he`s obviously (occasionally) enjoying the journey and wears his * heart on his sleeve * sometimes but that`s how he is .
Truth be told we`ve all been at breaking point with these bloody things but not being well doesn`t help at all . The blunt truth is most of us are fortunate enough to throw money at a problem and Para is quite clear that he hasn`t got that option but wants to do the best he can with limited resources so fair play ...

He doesn`t have to post on here , nobody has to read it , there IS an ignore button if you don`t like his postings ....

**(ok , wrong use of a cleeeshaaayy  ...)

    :hattip:

  20. Ignore any negative comments on here Para, just remain positive and look after yourself and your family. For me, working on my van releases daily stresses and that’s obviously your release too.

Keep on going at your own pace
