I like the fire. is it a inset job or, one that fits snug into the recess?

  2. I think it's been boarded in around the edges

  3. We had heavy rain all last night
So this morning I checked in the engine bay to see if there's any water ingress
I'm was happy to find After my remedial work on the rear hatch seal channel I've gone from this
    [IMG]
    To this
    [IMG]
Yay no more engine bay water ingress

However on looking underneath the front of the bus I found this
    [IMG]
So I removed the kick panels to be greeted with this
    [IMG]

So I'm going to have to remove the dash etc and try to find where it's getting in

I replaced a split wiper spindle rubber yesterday but will check from inside to make sure it's forming a proper seal
    Other possible ingress points are
Windscreen seal, washer jet seals, indicator seals which I fitted the Brazilian plastizote foam type seals.
Maybe a small hole in the airbox or headlamp bowls.
I may use some windscreen sealant anyway just to be on the safe side
    What type do people recommend?

I fitted some new indicator seals and they perished within days  , I wish I was exaggerating:(

Can't remember, but it's a good place to start, you can see without pulling the dash

  8. So I stripped the glove box, dash pod and dashtop cover out for a look
    [IMG]

Dash top mounting tab had water on it and has started to corrode so I'm pretty sure that's getting past the windscreen seal

Slight weep from the rhs indicator seal
Originally the indicator housing were riveted in
Mine are fastened in with screws so probably not tight enough
I've nipped the screws up a touch tighter to see if it seals up
    [IMG]
Washer jet seal is leaking on the lhs
Both washer jets can be wobbled a little from outside so will need new seals to try and remedy this
    [IMG]
Slight weep from the bottom of the lhs headlamp bowl
I'll daub some cavity wax into the panel joins around both headlamp bowls

  9. I pulled the windscreen washer
It's been tight enough to make and impression on the paint but still was weeping a bit
    [IMG]
So I left it out and taped over the hole for now
    [IMG]
Water is still slightly seeping in from the bottom of both indicator housings despite the seals been in good condition and me tightening the mounting screws.
I can only think the screws aren't exerting enough pressure to make a good seal but if i tighten them any more the housing will crack.
I started pushing and moving the windscreen seal around to see if it would seat any better and got water pouring out in places so it's definitely not sealing properly

So I'm thinking some non setting windscreen sealant squeezed under the edges of the screen rubber and around the edges of the indicator housings and possibly the washer jet seals?

  10. I've ordered a tube of butyl rubber non setting sealant
Should do the trick and I can use it to stick the plastic water barrier on my cab door cards aswell
    Anyone remember dum dum?
I imagine it's the same type of stuff

Does the job , I use it every now and again on my van conversion glass rubbers, they seem to be holding up to leaks so far

  19. Dried out all underneath the windscreen rubber this morning.
Then squirted windscreen sealant underneath the rubber
What a pain of a job the pressure of the rubber was forcing the nozzle out and some sections seemed to want a load of sealant where as others it just spilled out.
I've made quite a mess so I'm hoping it's sealed and not to hard to clean up☹️
I also did the front indicator housings and a little underneath the washer jet seals.

  20. I'm relieved to say that after trying various things I found kerosene on a microfibre cloth cleaned the excess up without to much effort
