  9. Thats what happens when varnish solvents meet pulped paper

Im growing more and more to love this bus
If id had the same approach i would have albums of my kids growing up with the bus in the background
I chose a different approach and ive loads of ocd detailed type pics to show
Not so many pics with the kids and the van:thinking:

  10. My mother did a bar top like that. All photos of family & friends partying, then poured a thick coat of resin over it. Very cool.
I love this news paper idea too.
It immediately made me think of doing it with old black & white dictionary illustrations. You could choose any subject you want.
Whoops! Didn't mean to make these so big! lol

  11. @paradox and @zed I actually purposefully screwed the paper up then flattened it again, then mounted it with extra string spray glue, put tea on it , then a stain, then clear varnish, then light oak varnish, I was going to consider crackle glaze :) . Para we all do things different ways, you are much more planned and precise than I am , our buses are very different too , my bits will probably fall off as I stick them on with masking tape or glue ....yours are precision ;) x

@Baysearcher it us an old vw manual which I bought mouldy from a show. I do like the illustrations above that has given me some ideas for my table , however may leave off those leaves ;)

  12. I had been looking at sticky back plastic for the table ........painted the leg Matt black yesterday , sad thing is it appears my love of rat names me 'kewl ' I have never been 'kewl ' in my life so to rebel do I need a nice shinny bus all year appropriate ;)

  13. Why do we pay someone to check something over .....electrics went today , solenoid earth lead and clip and come off and battery lead had come lose meaning no power only had all all the electrics checked after the dizzy disasters ...........yes we fixed it but not felling like a happy bunny ....off to look at camping stuff that always cheers me up , not that I need any or can afford it :D

    sANDYbAY On benefits-won't sponsor!

Stick with it Row, ours went through a phase of not being able to get where it was going under its own steam. Each thing you fix now makes it a bit more reliable in the future.
It's even given you 'Kewl', "Oxide Ollie" is one of the best names for a bus I've ever heard.

  15. :D thanks Bob

  16. @Row I love your resto, a raw bus is so much better than these gleaming mega money restos that people are scared to use.
The pallet unit is a good low cost option, here's mine that I knocked up from a crumbling Riveria unit. The top is all that's left of the original. The rest is sanded pallets.

  17. Oh I like that a lot ! Thank you :) You are right I could not have one of those nor would I want one of those shiney ones they are all very pretty but not me or my family really . really nice job you have done there

  18. Thanks  I went for the driftwood effect which takes a bit more effort, but my joinery skills are rubbish so pallets were the way forward(and free).
    Keep it up

  19. Gorgeous! Even the knobs remind me of old black porcelain knobs commonly seen in 100yr old farm houses. (in the US anyway)
This pallet repurpose is inspiring.

  20. This table top design might go nicely with the curtain fabric you picked out. I know an easy way to do it if you're interested. [IMG]
