My front brake upgrade came today.. took about a month to get machined and sent to me. Came from Fosseway in the UK. Cost about £800ish. I ordered new discs then machined and 4 pot calipers bracket, braided hoses & pads. Should bolt straight on, i'll do a vid when i get round to fit them hopefully next week.. What are you going to use M/C wise ? Out of interest what are the piston diameters ? ( the Porsche 4 pots have a smaller combined area than the standard bay ones )
Very nice indeed, but think that a well sorted standard set up is quite adequate. Mine only just started slightly fading after a 2400 meter hairpin decent in the Rhone Alps... Would get vented discs if they were available for a standard set-up all the same. Disc width is more than likely the problem there.
I was going for vented discs but they wouldnt work well on a slow old vw just wouldnt get warm enough to help the braking. Hence the patten machined on the standard disc. It keeps the pads from glazing over... and very light calipers should help with the unsprung weight. And they look cool through my alloys which is far more important than stopping anyway haha Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Not really vented but Black Diamond are available drilled and grooved. https://www.lkperformance.co.uk/car-parts/brakes/brake-discs/volkswagen/type-2
They do look good ...I went with 944 vented /cross drilled discs but as I have 15" wheels I was stuck with the single pot caliper , but I use green stuff pads front and rear ...not that much better than stock ..
Heres the first side done. They fitted fine, with a little tweak here and there, disc shoud needed cutting a little off, the braided hose bango bolt was to long and didnt fit the bracket hole, so a little stepped drill and another copper washer and it was good to go... i weighed the og caliper/pads came in at 5000ish grams the new ones/pads 2000ish grams so alot of unspring weight lost. Fitted my audi alloys with loads of space not sure on the og steels though when i fit the next size i will try a og steels. But all in all a good fit. Next is do the other side and bleed brakes and test drive.. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
I was about to post a thread asking for a review of those brakes. Looking forward for your test drive.
Yep hopefully i'll get the other side done next week and do a vid to show how i fitted it and the pit falls .. though not many with this kit.. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Done everything now and all bleed up. Now to bed the brakes in and a rebleed to make sure ive got all the air out.. took it for a test drive and yea its stops haha its alot better and feels lighter on the front as well, i fitted my og steels so you can use steels with this 4 pot kit. I did make a vid to show one side fitted, once i do a cut of it i'll post a link. The only thing is the banjo bolt is far to long, in the end i machined the bolt down about 5 mm because the fluid would have never got though to the calipers if you had tried to use the length they sent. I will be phoning them to say what ive found. But apart from that everything was straight forward if you can change things like brake pads and bleed brakes you can do this kit. Hi I just brought some Fosseway brakes and black diamond drilled and slotted disks Haven’t fitted them yet Did you ever make the vid of you fitting them If so id love to see it
As it’s nearly a 6 year old thread and he’s not been on for over a year you might be better trying to DM him
