Yeah, I’m getting those dodgy padlocks off as soon as I get to it. My current theft deterrent is to park it next to an Aston or Bentley.
Hello and Welcome from The Colonial Contingent. I've just woken up and it's going to be another hot day.
welcome aboard the rollercoaster... you were lucky with the name.. as we already have a knob in london ..
My boats had a single pot Yanmar and a marinized 3-cyl Isuzu. The Yanmar thumper was a gem but at some point a DPO had removed the raw water filter (I should have checked) and when I got it on the bench I found handfuls of sand in the cylinder. Sadly, you can’t repower a van with an outboard, so I have to do my due diligence this time Speaking of which: what is the single most important thing new T2 owners need to check on/deal with, in your divers, august opinions?
How amenable your bank manager is concerning overdrafts. Sent from my ALCATEL ONE TOUCH 9002A using Tapatalk
Nahhhh - too disorganised for any of that malarky ... There`s a few from around the area who seem to gravitate to Techenders , @paul2590 , @Valveandy , @CollyP and miself . Good lads , if you get stuck with anything just ask
Make sure the cooling system is in tip top condition ...ALL the correct tin ware and thermostat and flap and bar system correctly working ...check oil as often as possible if state of engine is unknown . Change fuel filter every year if tank is dodgy .
Top tip - You sound handy enough with the spanners so do as much as possible yourself , avoiding local garages . One particular `specialist` in Hampton did work for me and now i have somewhere to work on the van i`m still finding their Sh1t work , latest being the `mechanic` decided the van would be better without brake shoe retaining springs , just sat there floating around .... Nice !! As other have said , learn to look after the van and enjoy the ride
Doing the wrenching myself is pretty much the whole point of buying it That and the hilarious ride, big bus steering wheel, the noise, the view—not to mention I get more appraising looks than anything else on the road.
That said, I don’t want to give the impression I know what I’m doing. I’m generally handy and know which way up a carburettor goes, but I joined this forum because I’m going to need it .
Welcome, whereabouts are you I'm often in the mood for a cycle in the evening and that's an excuse to drop in to a hostelry Andy
