NLA Adjustable Child Bunk (Front Cab Hammock)

  1. After a brief chat with Adam on here I purchased just the canvass and telescopic poles from NLA VW at Camper Jam.

First off it all appears to be well packaged. I didn't need the brackets that screw to the A and B pillars as I have them from factory. However I did get a look at the ones that came out the box and have to say they looked correct.

The poles seem well made and fit into my existing brackets perfectly.

The canvass is strong and the stitching appears to be solid. I will update after the test of time.

All good stuff aside, the only area for concern is the fabric itself - whilst it was drum tight (as per instructions) at point of fitting (it was quite a stretch getting them to drop into the brackets) by the morning it had sagged so much that it hangs on the seats and other cab parts. Disappointing.

Not sure how I am going to tighten things up so may need to be creative.

Overall I would give it 5 out of 10. The poles on there own I would give 9 out of 10.

  2. Update: so after just under two weeks of camping how has the product faired?

Well the poles are fine. Solid. All looks well. Ive filed some of the inner and outer edges on all four as they were a bit sharp and tendedto cag on the fabric. Smooth now.

Onto the fabric, this really is a sorry state. The sag is very disappointing indeed. It actually has the shape of my son carved out in it. He is a very trim gymnastic 6 btw. I think this is an area @NLAVWParts can do much better in and will pass the feedback to Adam.

Perhaps someone can tell us how the original material faired?

My revised score for the material is 3/10. Pic to follow.

  3. Can you post a close up picture of the canvas and stitching? I would be interested to know if it is the same as mine? Purchased mine from Rackhams, the material was used by the American military in Iraq, so it is very strong.

  4. @Spacecowboyuk I have an original one, at least I think it is. Using it this weekend so will see how its looks with my 5 nearly 6 yr old on it and post a picture for you.

  5. Cheers all. I will post a pic tomorrow

I'm really sorry to hear this, it is concerning to hear. As you mhave said you will pass on the feedback to Adam I won't interfere myself.

We appreciate all feed back as it allows us to perfect the products but of course would prefer it if we got it right first time.

Again I'm sorry for the issues but hopefully we can go some way to resolve this for you
