New Interior Layout But How?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Ryanvdub, Nov 18, 2019.

  1. Have had a slightly modified Devon interior for the past 4 years but with the new family addition it just doesnt work and bed is too small so thinking of a L shaped seating plan (see picture)

problem is how do i fold out a bed base and support it? Anyone done similar?

  2. I guess like a caravan. You take two sheets of ply, hinged in the middle, that when folded are the same size as the seat cushion. So they can be stored underneath it.

you attach an L shaped block to the seat frame and a corresponding block on the underside of the bed board so they can lock together. The side not supported by the seat frame is held up by a simple drop down leg.

  3. problem i have is seat is 500mm wide bed is 1200mm so i need to make a double fold out (500mm + 200mm)

hoping someone had similar and could post a picture.

Short term theres always a canvas cab bunk.

Which Devon are you starting from ?

For instance that L shaped layout looks like you could slide the side seat down flat in front of the rear seat on drop down or slot in legs.
Then have a small sleeping space behind the rear seat..

But in reality the basic sleeping space in a non-poptop Devon is 2 people sized.
Need to use a poptop bunk or two.. or a tent for the adults.

Couldn't the new arrival sleep over the engine and then figure out how to make a bed out of rest of interior, the rear seat back, becoming the headboard?
