New engine!!!

  1. Thought I had seen it somewhere - well it's in the "How to keep your VW Alive"by John Muir - he says he does 60 mph max in a bus and 75 mph max in Beetle

  3. what the van is worth without a runnign engine? a lot less than with.

i would go with one of the engine companies that do refurbs. or go to heritage and get a brand new one with no worries then.

  4. A non runner will also appeal to a smaller group of people

  5. We understand it would be worth a lot less but we are thinking do we cut our losses and start again with a new one?!
More so as we have s new addition to the family and think maybe a Viking or like might be better option? Also ideally want one now with factory fitted seat belts ....

  7. 1k on an engine will raise the price of the van by at least 2k i reckon, selling it with a non working engine will be a huge loss imo

  8. Understandably - we just need to price up options really

  9. yeah your right - I think because we saw a Viking at the same time and so should have gone for that option.. But didn't!! Arghhhh!
We've got a 3/4 bed in the back and one three point and one lap but ideally want two three points or an isofix?!

Isofix in a Bay? Ain't not never heard of 'em in a Bay I ain't.

  11. Lol - I've heard a company fitted one in!

  12. (As in welded in a bar!) ha

Yes, I suppose that would work then. I guess you'd have to have the RnR cushions adapted to allow the isofix to click in properly. :)

Don't sweat it Charlene. We took a hit on our first Bay and put it towards our second and present one :).

T5s are good by the way......

  16. I would go for a engine like @1973daisy has put in his , get her running and do some camping in "your camper" that is in very nice condition first , then if you like it make your decisions , your baby will fit in this one at the mo anyway , if you need to sell you would be mad not to sell with an engine anyway even if you have to borrow the money as others have said a nice bus thats running will sell much easier especially before summer . Good luck ,such a shame its turned out like it has but youve got a good buddy in si along the way

    I can't see Isofix working.
What do you weld it too that will be as solid as a modern car?
I'm sure you could fit a bar, but it would in no way be as safe as proper Isofix.

  18. We use one of Davidoft's brackets for the Child seat. It works fine.

  19. Yeah I know but we have a 3/4 seat and where would you attach the second 3 point in the back as we already have one but have two little ones...
