Thought I had seen it somewhere - well it's in the "How to keep your VW Alive"by John Muir - he says he does 60 mph max in a bus and 75 mph max in Beetle
So appreciate your help Thankyou so much... thinking of options at mo.. Ideas on value folks as a non runner?! I'll add more info this week to get some ideas maybe
what the van is worth without a runnign engine? a lot less than with. i would go with one of the engine companies that do refurbs. or go to heritage and get a brand new one with no worries then.
We understand it would be worth a lot less but we are thinking do we cut our losses and start again with a new one?! More so as we have s new addition to the family and think maybe a Viking or like might be better option? Also ideally want one now with factory fitted seat belts ....
something like this: http://www.theengineshop.info/acatalog/Green-Engine-211100033B_GREEN.html factory fitted seatbelts in the rear is nigh on impossible, however @davidoft sells mounts to be able to put seatbelts in the rear. Depends on if you go with "better the devil you know" on whther you go for a different one or stick with what you have
1k on an engine will raise the price of the van by at least 2k i reckon, selling it with a non working engine will be a huge loss imo
yeah your right - I think because we saw a Viking at the same time and so should have gone for that option.. But didn't!! Arghhhh! We've got a 3/4 bed in the back and one three point and one lap but ideally want two three points or an isofix?!
Yes, I suppose that would work then. I guess you'd have to have the RnR cushions adapted to allow the isofix to click in properly.
Don't sweat it Charlene. We took a hit on our first Bay and put it towards our second and present one . T5s are good by the way......
I would go for a engine like @1973daisy has put in his , get her running and do some camping in "your camper" that is in very nice condition first , then if you like it make your decisions , your baby will fit in this one at the mo anyway , if you need to sell you would be mad not to sell with an engine anyway even if you have to borrow the money as others have said a nice bus thats running will sell much easier especially before summer . Good luck ,such a shame its turned out like it has but youve got a good buddy in si along the way
I can't see Isofix working. What do you weld it too that will be as solid as a modern car? I'm sure you could fit a bar, but it would in no way be as safe as proper Isofix.
Yeah I know but we have a 3/4 seat and where would you attach the second 3 point in the back as we already have one but have two little ones...
