  1. id have taken it easy , n seen what happened with gauge first . You shouldnt be having to push it?

  2. if you have done a boiling water check on your gauge then that is getting much too hot

I know this may sound a daft question, is the fan housing clear of any debris ingression, ie, bits of old engine bay seal?

A while back, Im sure it was Zed, someone had overheating issues and it turned out to be the engine bay seal had been sucked into the fan housing

  6. Where exactly is the air drawn in?

  7. think you need to get to someone who knows their stuff then cos id say 140 is not good after 4 to 5 miles or atall .

Round the back of the fan housing next to where you fitted the oil cooler tinware.

  9. I know that If i would have kept it at 50-55 it probably be OK.

forced air goes past the doghouse tin (air scoop) which you installed to cool the oil cooler but Im not fully sure on the fan as its inlet is on the engine bay side. The seal is very close to the fan hence my asking if the fanhousing was clear.

Im doing my engine bay seal on the 73 & its a bitch to fit :(

It shouldn't be getting so hot at that speed, you should be able to cruise comfortably at 60-65mph. Even then it should only get that hot up a long hill if you managed to keep the speed up.
Do you know anything about the carb jetting? It's possible that's the problem.
Unless Mark's cracked it with debris in the fan. :)

  12. in your pics you are blowing air from your fan into the engine compartment and have tin holes blocked , ive never seen this before why are you doing this ?

  13. I changed all the jetting as guided by yourself on another thread. How can I check the debris on the fan, can this be done without engine coming out?

nice spot Barney, there should be pipes coming off through those holes - warm air from the fan is staying in the engine bay..that'll not help

  16. which pic, sorry? little confused by which part your talking of

    heres what Barney refers to

from the fan housing, there are two silver corrugated tubes to the heat ex's - yours are missing & the holes sealed up, the air cannot vent away from the engine bay
