  1. But post Brexit the Chinese were going to enter into an honourable trade agreement with Britain and buy lots of expensive exports of us for ever and ever, never ripping us off or cutting us dead once they own every company of ours that is of use to them.

It must be true - the three Brexiteers said so.

  2. Excellent post !

You nearly had me. I was just about to vote ST for PM until the last words.
I do not believe Theresa is power crazy at all. I think she is a hard working woman, with a great work ethic and morals who has tried to make the best of the horrendous mess that she inherited; none of which was of her making.
She has tried to make a deal that would be palatable for all of the UK, bearing in mind the nearly equal split of those who voted, vs the 28% of registered voters who did not vote at all.

    she has failed.

But labour never seem to be to successful when given the power ...seem to remember they took us into a futile world changing war ....and i foolishly voted them and left quite a mess at home too never again ...and Corbyn well looks like an undertaker off duty .
I think the stress of being PM would kill him ...who next ?

  7. But ask yourself this - in what government have you and your family seen most prosperity- the Thatcher years, the Major years, the Blair years or the Cameron/May years ?

No difference in any to be honest ...one thing that annoyed me with labour was when they abolished the sub contractors card ...bad move we all had one and you could work for anyone,
hand your card to who you were working for ...or someone working for me pay them and a taxing system was sorted , it helped to avoid cash payouts , then there was cash hand outs and no tax for the government .
It was ideal for small businesses .I never employed any one again after that .

  12. Certainly not Thatcher she would steal the skin off a rice pudding that woman.
    Blair/Brown without a shadow of a doubt.
Mrs ST is a public sector worker & hasn't had a pay rise in the last 10 yes TEN years or to put it bluntly since the tories took office.
I earned £25k a year when Brown was in power now I am lucky to get £200 a week (£10k a year Geord ;))
The tories won't EVER do ANYTHING for the good of the common man so that means you, me & possibly everyone on here.

I'd nominate that the demographic of this site's user would skew your findings somewhat.

  18. I'd nominate that the demographic of the site's users would be skewed as a result of the prosperity during the Blair years.

Obviously the Tories hold Brown responsible for breaking the economy.
Apparently it had nothing to do with toxic debt from the USA that brought down most of the developed world economies at the same time.

You mean a group of people that predominantly own their own houses and are prosperous to have a hobby worth thousands of pounds are a good cross section of society.

I'd counter that all governments have ballsed it up for fairly large swathes of society during any one term.....prosperity and happiness aren't always bedfellows.
