name shame part 1

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Ermintrude, Nov 21, 2011.

  1. some of you may know that i had a spot of trouble with my bus respray. At the time i said i wasn't prepared to name and shame as i believed that the sprayer deserved a chance to put it right after sub-contracting my bus out to his brother.

As i've only just got the bus back and therefore only have the aesthetics to go on regarding the quality of the job, i won't be naming the original sprayer... just yet.

    however, i would like to warn people about his brother who originally bodged my bus, including the following;
    spraying over old flaky paint
    not using primer
    leaving filler un-sanded
spraying over dirt in the guttering
scratching the window glass (very badly)
stealing my steering lock (have door seals back now)
sending me messages asking for money to continue/finish the job ... to name but a few.

Removed: if you want to know please PM me. I'm happy to back up all statements made with evidence. :)

careful on this name and shame stuff on here, the admin "could" get accused of summat legal - like slander but not? sorry i'm not up on legal stuff....i'm only guessing like but i wouldn't do it without asking.

  3. Yep whs, we've had difficulty in the past with naming and shaming, if you want the post modded let me know, people can always contact you if you put the rough area

  4. just change the wording to:
'I think <name> is the worlds best sprayer of leaves in gutters, his rustic 'no sanding ' effects are amazing, his insight at removing obviously superfluous items like steering locks makes me shudder with joy. I'm reluctant to share this gold mine of talent with you but as I've just found myself here are his contact details.
You're allowed to praise people arent you?
    Cheers

  7. errm, ok... so what should i do?

there is certainly no doubt about the quality of his work, i have evidence and his brothers signature on a statement of the bodged job.

so many people asked me, so thought i was doing peeps a favour giving advanced warning...no?

by all means i'll change/delete it, i don't want the site to get into bother.
mods? what should i do (apologies if i've compromised the innocent) :)

  11. I don't think any thing positive can come from this thread.

It takes a very long time to work up a good reputation to in the VW industry and seconds to ruin it. :(

I have many friends in this business and would hate to see one of their reputations get smashed because of someone else's opinion.

I you have a problem with someone's work or product sort it out with them ;)

As Ned has said it takes seconds to ruin a good reputation. Time will do what it has to.

A recommendation is worth it's weight in gold most of the time. This is the best we have to go on in this business called Volkswagen.
