Mystery Pop Top

  1. Good evening everyone,

Can anybody identify this roof for me, the photo came with my van and is from when it was still on the road (ignore the date tag I took a picture of the picture) possibly 10-15 years ago. The PO binned the roof before I got to see it in the flesh.
The second photo is of the roof now.

  3. Is it an early concertina type or the later though.

  4. Its an Early Purplepanyman got the same roof on his prototype bay (71)

will get him to have a look.

  5. Its a Danbury full Pop top, :) which I think is a sleek design & still with original bellows. :)

  6. Cheers everyone, I was going to go for a Paris Bettles canvas sunroof but think the hole might be too big, and the roof is full of small holes where the roof was attached.

Has anyone got pictures of how this roof attaches so I can compare to the frame on the roof of my van?

    Cheers

  7. I could get used to some proper photographs around the middle or end of next week. If that's okay:)

  8. That would be great Purplepantyman, once I know what I am looking for I can start the search. Only thing is these things don't come up for sale very often, good job I'm a long way from finished.

Try a PM to daniel_son on here, he had a danbury poptop he was looking to sell. I think it was complete and your van already has all the metal support work still on the roof. :)

It should fit straight on your bus.

  10. Loving the front bumper in the original pic

  11. Thanks guys, so its definatley a Danbury in your opinion.

  12. If i had a bumper like that nowadays id be pulled by plod for a van search lol

  14. As promised Syd78 :)

Looks pretty straight forward to me just a strip of aluminium with holes and pop riveted to the roof. The bellows seated between the metal strip and the roof resulting in it being fastened securely to the bus. :)
The scissor mechanism in my bus has been modified and two wooden poles are used to keep the bellows up in the erect position. Always wanted to say erect on TLB

Also use 2 straps to fasten the roof down securely whilst in transport. Don't know how this differs to other buses but it works for us.

  15. Cheers purplepantyman PM sent.

One question though I've just noticed the brackets on the side of my roof opening in my first pictures look differant to yours and the ons daniel_son sent me. Any ideas

  16. I see what you mean. Here's an enlargement of your picture. I'll take a look at mine and post

I would imagine that your poles may be correct for your Backet or may need to be hacksaw shorter and redrill. I'm sure either way the modification will work fingers crossed they will not need any modifying :)
