theres some great work going on fella, big improvements!

  2. Great resto with some quality work. Parts of your bus look like mine with all the filler.

  3. Thanks for the comments guys

Got a bit more down today

Started the cut off the sill etc
    [IMG]

Which then lead to having to cut away some of the floor cos a poor repairs

Than i started to remove the rear outrigger and jacking point
    [IMG]

My next visit was to A&E to have a 2inch cut on the top of my hand glued back together which put an end to todays work, could have been worse mind as i just missed a tendon :'(

Anyway the next plan of attack is to cut off the front arch, outrigger and any grot in the front wheel tub
Then i will be able to see what i need to order

  4. great work going on here 8) takes balls to chop the roof off me thinks

  5. we VW restorers are all the same, a visit to the hospital is seen as an inconvienience and time spent not working on the bus :D lol!

keep going mate, your making good progress :D

  6.
  7. Managed to chop off some more rot today

Why is it from a few small holes you always end up with 1 big hole, anyway it looks like i might need to fit a full cargo full as the current one isn't the original and looks like some corrugated steel has been used to to repair it with :-

A couple of hours tomorrow should see all the grot gone and then i can start to figure out how it all goes back together ;D

Liking what you've done so far, especially with the window surrounds as I'm doing mine, and most people think its pointless!

    Keep the updates coming.

  9. A quick update and the last few weeks work
It's not a great deal but i only been able to do an hour here and there

Cut out all the rot in the top hats, jacking points and in the b post
    [IMG]

The 2 top hats that have the jacking points attached had to come off completely
The other top hats just need the end replacing
The main chassis is in great nick which is good

Chopped the b post back to good metal and cut out the grot in the front inner wheel tub

Got all the panels i need and made a start on the repairs
So far i managed to repair all the top hats apart from the front 1

I used a nice solid straight edge and clamped it to the top hat ends
Trial fitted the rear jacking point top hat using the straight edge as a datum of where the inner sill will be
    [IMG]

    All ready for welding
    [IMG]

Then made some small lengths to repair the ends and tacked them in to place
    [IMG]

Once i was happy i welded them all in and cleaned the welds and gave them all a good coat of primer
    [IMG]

Next job to do over the next couple of nights is to fit the jacking points, front top hat and inner sill

  10. Very neat mate, coming on nicely

  11. very tidy :D ....having the floor out looks like it makes an easy job of repairing the top hats :D

  13. Well i've had a couple of days off work to crack on with the bus

Yesterday i seemed to spend all doing stuff but had nothing to show for it, which got my goat a bit

Today and got stuck nice and early and a finally feel that i've made some inroads on the sill and b post area

    So here's today's pics

Got the outriggers, jacking points and inner sill and strengthener

  17. Was just looking at my resto and thought i better do an update before it slips on to page 3

Winter has now stopped play on the van (having to do it on the drive doesn't help)
So i have put her away in my rented garage over the road
I'm hoping to to get some more rot cut out and some repair panels made up ready for the spring when the welding can commence

So i have started to repair the sliding door which i managed to get for a whopping £26 :)), i had to send the olds up to Scotland to collect it for me but they had a nice few days away

I stripped out the glass and handle mechanisms to assess the rot

Nothing to bad, i've got the lower inner and outer repair panels for the bottom
Next out came the grinder and stripped all the paint around the window

That's it for now but hope to have it repaired over the weekend, will update with pics as i go

  18. made a start on the sliding door

Got 1 bit left to do around the window and the outer skin to put on

The main rot around the window removed and new steel welded in
    [IMG]

And the new inner lower panel in place with some por15 painted on the inside
