Transport chap once dropped a bay off. In the process of uploading from his crap trailer he snapped off the fog light, us style licence plate and the exhaust tailpipe and still expected to be paid. He even tried to deny it despite me watching and the broken bits on the ground. lol I told him to do one. He offered a £20 discount. He didn't get paid, his company had already tipped off the owner. He tried to get money from her, but failed under my insistance that she shouldn't pay that or their last bill and to front them up. They knew they'd been ripping her off and soon gave up. Different, but it just reminded me. Other times you get delivery drivers who really care, get you to inspect before, want you to watch and want to know you're entirely happy with what's going on.
I think this is not related to the bumper but is separate damage that has also occurred. To which it has been agreed to be paid for it. Though agreeing and paying are two different things.
Trouble is now what? At least if you'd been the customer you could have not paid, every little helps. As for ?, I feel the situation is pretty bad for both of you. Your engine has probably cost ? more than you by now...
Insurance/courts I suspect. In time/labour he probably has maybe but not parts. I've lost considerably too. I would also believe my engine warranty expired when the transporter dropped my van.
I "liked" the post 'cos I couldn't find a "kin ell" button. Still look on the bright side at least you've got a well sorted engine now.
My engine warrenty as I understand it, not that I have one, is that Rob will fix it if he's dropped a bowlock. TBH I've done 3-4000 miles, if he'd dropped one it would have gone bang by now, I've given it some! I reckon it's mine now. After all, it wasn't his idea, he enjoyed building it but it was my basic silly spec. I always made it clear I wouldn't hold him responsible in any way if a failure was due to, say, machining the life out of the case to get the barrels in. Or anything else really. I think I may have a strange attitude though.
What I was trying to say is if you put your confidence in a builder, to some extent you're in it together, parts are not all new, air-cooled engines have a hugely fluctuating temp range etc etc. The water is muddy before you start and success cannot be guaranteed. Sometimes despite everyone's best efforts things do go wrong. That's view anyway. I appreciate it's no help.

Hi Ray, The composition is complex layer synthetic hose as follows: Inner Layer – FKM – Fluoroelastomer Intermediate layer – ECO – Epichlorohydrin rubber – synthetic rubber with vastly improved resistance and longevity over natural rubber Re-inforcement – Aramid – synthetic fibre developed for space exploration and now widely used for produce ballistic armour fabric for bullet proof vests Outer layer – ECO – as above. So as you can see this is not a simple rubber hose as most people sell. Most hose is rubber or Nitrobutyl Rubber (NBR) which is still natural rubber. The R9 specification is misleading as is the specification of the composition and does not account for ethanol resistance or otherwise, If you want any further information just get back to me Sod it I'll just buy the stuff and worry not.
imo, it needed repairing anyways (new panel etc) ,in the sceme of things it is not that bad (skim filler ,painting) ,maybe just looks bad because of other things going wrong like engine etc... Me personaly would put it down to experience...
After seeing the fuel line photos above I reconsidered my bargain fuel line and got some Codan SAEJ30 R9 from Brickworks off of eBay.. Looks the same spec.. Comes in the ususall sizes Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
There's no way on earth I would accept my van back in that state and just say "Ho Hum, Oh well let's write it off to experience".
