She is a 1988 T25 Caravelle GL 2.1 fuel injected auto.

The idea is she going to be my daily to and from work. Well that's how I sold the idea to her indoors ...anyway I'm sure she'll start talking to me soon!

  2. Your lady is probably already thinking, sell that old Bay, we won't need it now.

  3. Haha I hope not, as that won't be happening.

    Very nice :)

  6. Nice,
I think the t25's in one colour with body kits look cool

  7. I like the t25. I looked after my son's 1980 devon for a while and really enjoyed it. prompted me to get my own van and it was a toss up between getting a t25 or a late bay, did I make the right decision?

  8. I think you did make the right decision, for me I love everything about my Bay warts and all and will never get rid of it, I love the simplicity of it and for me nothing beats the sound of an air cooled engine popping and burbling away behind you as trundle down a country lane.

I,ve only had the T25 less than week and have used it to get to work and back each day, but to me it’s like driving a modern car and doesn’t have the charm of our Bays.

Your son’s 1980 T25 would be air cooled though, where as mine is a 1988 so it’s water-cooled, fuel injected and has power steering and its quiet to drive, Lol I can actually hear the radio when driving it not like my Bay!

  9. you probably know already, but there is a t25 forum, club8090, which is good, not as active as ours but much helpful stuff on there for t25 owners. I found the t25 much better to drive with modern rack steering and suspension.

you may know that my bay has a knocking engine so not driven at the moment. one option I have is to sell the bay and spend the money on a t25, can't decide, so leaving it at the moment.

Yeah, you can only hear the radio in a Bay when you're parked up ..... waiting for the AA to arrive.

  11. Sound proofing required! Makes all the difference and you won't be able to fart in silence

  13. Thank you, yes have already registered with club8090

Sorry to hear that about your engine! hope you manage to get it sorted rather than selling it.

True but then I couldn't hear all the 'new' noises I need to worry about:rolleyes:

  15. Then I guess you wont need to worry anymore until it goes BANG

  16. I think the water cooled engines are pretty reliable, but hear that the coolant needs changing often with the proper stuff. At least you can work on the engine more easily and don't have to worry about sealing up the engine bay. My son's T25 has had plenty of issues but all doable, keep an eye on the rear arms which support the rear suspension as they are prone to rot and are difficult to repair.

Your t25 looks great, my son's one had some panel and wheel arch rusting, but with only a small budget, we went for the old style filler and hand rollered the whole van with Rustoleum, seems a lot of that goes on in the club8090 forum. We gave it 2 more coats last year and ok its not perfect but it works and its cheap. Its in the bamboo yellow and ivory, close to the original colours.

My first camper was a T25 2.1 injection. It was manual though and had the gears so that 2nd gear went towards the dash. It meant smacking my knuckles every time I went for a speed start off the lights! :)

  18. My daughter had a similar one
    Lovely thing to drive
But try not to pull the sliding door off when closing it.. expecting it to be much heavier :)

  19. Haha yes I noticed the sliding door on these are considerably lighter than on the Bay and and slowly get used to not slamming it shut with as much force as normally use on the Bay.

It was lovely to drive! ...but it's playing silly buggers with me at the moment as it keeps cutting out on idle! (apparently quite a common problem on them as I have learnt) so i’m in the process of elimination renewing parts on the ignition and digijet at the moment and have two money pits at the moment.
