  2. I'm pretty much convinced that looking at the ht leads they aren't going to the correct cylinders but hard to tell

If one is right off, you would have a hell of a job starting it at all and would need to be pumping the throttle like mad.

  6. A slight lack of throttle response, yes

  7. I compared a photo of my leads, my photo is a poor quality but I agree that something does not look right with the way your leads are routing.....could be wrong but definitely worth checking by the diagrams provided.

  8. If you look down on the distributor with the vacuum can to the right. Cylinder number 1 lead should be at around 2 o'clock. Going clockwise the next lead should go to cylinder 4' the next one cylinder 3 and the next cylinder 2. It doesn't look from the pics that this is the Case. Clives drawing above and this should make sense.

  9. I think you needs to find a new mechanic friend. I bet its something to do with the parts that have been replaced, I would be looking or get somebody to look at those plug leads, dizzy cap and rotor. I agree with others that the leads look wrong maybe in the pictures. If it was running 'ok' before then that has to be your first port of call..

  12. Right, so what I'm gathering is the leads are wrong? I know its probably a simple fix but nobody seems to have been able to fix it for me. I hope I can relay all your advice on to mechanic no. 5 tomorrow and he'll work with it. I honestly am so greatful for all your advice and will post better photos tomorrow when its not blowing a gale and raining heavy tomorrow. I just need this fixed... And its seems as though the last 4 days has been car mechanics fiddling with a bus they know not much about as they haven't worked with something so old before.

  13. Could be the rubber elbows on the inlet manifolds been dislodged or come loose, but i would start by makeup ng sure by my diagram that the plug leads are on the right order.

  14. Yes, new cap and arm put on... Ran for a mile whilst slowly dying. Then hasn't started since. This would indicate the leads are right as it wouldn't have went at all of they weren't?

  15. its easy! Just pull them off the plugs and plug them according to my pic,now is a good time to start learning, its 4 wires....

  16. Thank you! Will do! :)

  17. Thing is, the van has ran for a mile since the leads were put on the new cap. If it was wrong it wouldn't have run at all would it?
