I don't want to distract from a really nice resto, and I'm not in any way the world authority, but....

Mine is registered 74, but built pre Westfalia in late 73, so they should be very similar except yours has the later pin hinges on the engine lid, you have the above engine hatch and the central lock on the westy roof....all of these are later than 74, leave alone 73.

I don't want to doubt your docs, but your van has some later attributes that most of us use to characterise the year of manufacture.

There are people here than know way more than I do so I'm very happy to be put back in my box.

As inportant, I don't want to detract from your brilliant work and end result!

  6. To be fair dude, I’ve only got the farmers word for it and what it was registered by on the French side of things.

Documents here state September 73 but I realise that’s only a registration, either way it’s a 73 or 74, but I’ve always known it to be a 73 and the French and DVLA state it’s a 73 so I’ve always gone with that.

Good to learn from someone in the know properly and I’d love to have the actual knowledge to of known that, so lesson learnt.

Cheers man, it’s been a long slog at times these past 10 years but by no means am I finished yet, although child (pending another!) means she’s been hidden for a year or two in the garage!

Looks very nice, the blue and white suite each other and the Gasburners finish it off well. Interior looks nice too, again compliments it all.

Sometimes it's good to get the year simply to avoid getting the wrong parts.

It's an unbelievable resurrection of something that could have died in a field, you've done a really first class job of bringing one back from the dead and improving it!

Btw, what's the bike? It looks like a hybrid of a Quadangle and a PK Ripper?

Just check the M-plate, that’ll tell you when it was made and what if left the factory with.

  10. I totally agree on that and ordering parts! Numerous times early stuff has arrived from the reg and it’s had to go back! Trust me to get an oddball!

The Bmx is a Haro Race light cruiser 24, picked it up at a car boot in a bit worse for wear and had some paint left over so only one thing for it!

    Pleased with the outcome.

Also went to fit an eBay purchase, the empi hurst shifter but after 4 hours of fiddling around trying to get the thing lined up the standard shifter is now back in!

Selected everything great till I tightened it up then 3rd, 4th and reverse lock out only. Any suggestions welcomed, did thing about die-grinding the locators sideways to get some more adjustment to line it up but for now it’s on the shelf!

  12. New rubber up front,

After a trial on the 165/50/15’s, I decided to go for a set of Yokohama blue earth’s 175/55/15’s and suffice to say they feel so much better already after 100 odd miles.

    Shocks on order.... 16D0A350-86C3-4911-A46C-A095CA1C6FCF.jpeg

  14. When you spend half a months worth of wages on a retrim, two days prepping and cleaning it, move it 3 meters and the gear rod sleeve guide decides enough is enough and leaves you only selecting third, fourth and reverse, the day before it's off to a local classic show and a weekend of camping! Delightful! Anyone know of a quick fix for two days?!?! IMG_20190905_182708.jpg
