  1. you must be very close to done now , :hattip:

  2. List is getting shorter. Only these bts still to do.
    Make and fit headliner.
    Bleed brakes.
    Fit doors.
Stonechip underside of the wings and fit them.
    Fit running boards.
Fit heater hoses under bonnet and airbox drain.
Fit fuel tank and filler pipes.
    Fit interior.
    Fit engine.

Still need to buy all the heater hoses, some new tyres, headliner material, wing beading, thermostat and the tinware under it and an accelerator tube that i lost. Don't have the spare cash at the moment for any of it so will see how it goes nearer christmas.

  3. fill brake fluid bottle open all 4 bleed nipples wait for fliud to come out of all 4 at same time , if your on your own

  4. I've got a pressure bleeder, though there not a cap to fit the reservoir.
Got the fluid i need, just need the time to do it.

Away dog sitting for the inlaws for the next week while they're off on their jollies again.
At least i have the use of the FIL's empty garage while they're away so gonna see about stonechipping the underside of the wings while we're there. ;)

Checked the steering box and theres just 2 turns from lock to lock. The old box had just under 3. If i adjust the stops any more the tyres hit the inner arch. Looks like the steering ratio in the new box is different to the old one. Close ratio box?
I could really do with a couple of M8 bolts for the steering stops that have bigger heads than the stock 13mm ones as the drop arm barely hits on one lock. Its fine on the other lock though. Doesn't look like anything exists though.

  5. fill bottle leave it till ye come back ,at least that way it l make it way round

  6. True.
Knowing my luck it'll leak at the master cylinder and take all the paint off. :p

  7. Found an old piccy taken in late 90's at the inlaws old house.

  8. Had a go bleeding the brakes today.
Cracked off the unions on the master cylinder and fluid comes out so tightened them back up. Opened the rear nipple furthest aay from the master cylinder and as soon as the nipple is 1/4 turn loose it wobbles around and lets air back in even with a non return valve and the end of the pipe in a jar of brake fluid.
Both were new wheel cylinders though i never thought of checking if the bleed nipples were loose before i fitted them. When they are shut they are fine.

Tried the front ones on the calipers and the drivers side one worked great but i couldn't get anything out of the passengers side caliper even with the nipple completely removed. Not sure whats wrong but after an hour or so i gave up.

Wish i'd just stayed in bed and left the garage closed.

  9. Checked with a bolt and the thread in wheel cylinder isn't quite M6 or 1/4" imperial.

Spent an hour taping up the wing edges and everything else i don't want gravitex on. Used a whole newspaper and 2 rolls of tape. Now my compressor blew its fuse in its plug and i can't find a spare. Gonna rob one from some other leccy item for now.

  10. Plenty of space in the FIL's garage to get the wings sprayed with gravitex.

Not too bad a finish. Gonna give it some gloss black over the top to aid cleaning any mud or horse poo off. Dries matt which is a PITA to clean stuff off.

  11. give it a brush now with body colour

  12. Don't have enough of it left unfortunately. Just about 1/2" in the 5L tin. :(

  13. Inlaws house smells like a paint factory now. They're back tomorrow night so need to get the wings out of the garage and spray some air freshener round. :p

  14. Spent most of the afternoon chopping up the ivy that was blown off the wall by the storm last weekend. Can now actually get to the sliding doors.

Had to virtually fight a robin off as whenever i moved a branch it shot into the pile and grabbed a bug or somthing. :)

Trial fitted the sunroof surround after giving it a coat of satin black.

Nice to see it still fits.

  15. Been looking for a pair of rear shelf speakers for a while now. Something that doesn't look too modern. These popped up on ebay and as a bonus inclued an old radio and an 8 track player. Mine for £9. :)
Gonna stick some modern speakers in them as i suspect they're probably 2 or 4w speakers in them.:p
    Rexton.jpg

They look a bit similar to the Sapphire speakers that were an option in the 70's in the US. :)

  16. good buy

  17. We will see when they arrive.
Gonna make a kamei style rear parcel shelf with the lift up lid in the middle like this and fit them either side of it.

I suspect the radio cassette is probably just fit for scrap though i might just chuck it back on ebay at 99p. 8 track might make a nice under dash ornament though.

  18. tastey shelf :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

  19. Looks simple enough to make plus theres enough material left of the 2m i got to cover it to match the headlining. Got a spare glovebox knob to use on it so it'll match the dash switches too. :)

  20. Managed to get the brakes to bleed alright once i figures one of the bleed nipples on the caliper was blocked.
Probably give it another go later on just to make sure all the air is out but the pedal feels pretty good. :)

A couple of these arrived today:

Not too bad condition considering their age but the backs have a slight bend which i need to figure out how to fix.

Old Rexton 8 track player. Do I or don't I? Not sure if it works or not. Theres no info online about it and no diagrams anywhere on how its wired.
