So apart from Glastonbury, anyone got anything booked yet? All this talk of The Levellers, with @Merlin Cat and @Dicky going to see them last Sunday, got me thinking about Beautiful Days again.... I always mean to go and never get around to it.... maybe 2019 should be the year. I’ve done my part payment on Larmer Tree for 18th-21st July, as I tend to look on that one as a bit of a holiday with added music and the people watching is ace; there’s always tons of campervans there.... surely someone else from TLB must also go?? Then there’s always Victorious down at Southsea on the August bank holiday. Met up with the lovely Mr & Mrs @theBusmonkey there last year..... But I’m dithering a bit as it’s not so much fun on me lonesome, and for some reason a lot of my friends either aren’t keen on festivals or camping. Odd bunch! So what’s anyone else got sorted..... I need enthusing to get booking! It’s grey and belting with rain.... I need things to look forward to!!
Cropredy...though not booked yet. Mrs Tatty and mini Tat are off to Wood at Braziers park, Oxfordshire. GNUF in Huddersfield too though not booked that either.
We haven't booked yet for Victorious yet so will see how it goes with other plans for the year. It's been great the last 2 though hasn't it @scrooge95 ! And yes, I agree with you, it's greyer than grey outside today and I've retreated inside to attempt to write more content for the website. Writing about travel is a poor substitute for doing it so any distraction looking forward is welcome haha. So far we've got, Tears for Fears, Nottingham, Feb The Specials, Sheffield, May and.... Take That, Birmingham, May Now, I'm going to defend the TT concert by saying Mrs Busmonkey is going with a friend and it's a birthday treat. I will also be in Birmingham but the plan is to cruise the boat down the week before, moor up outside the Arena....and get hammered in the local watering holes with a mate whilst leaving the other two enjoying the 'boys'.... My kind of TT gig!
Ooh ooh just heard Neil Young and Bob Dylan are co-headlining Hyde Park on July 12th..... Bob was a bit dodge last time I saw him, but Neil Young is fab.
We are off too Camp Bestival next year to get our fix of single origin organic quinoa and rare breed tofu burgers. Only problem is the fake ratio Flyer has a puncture and the batteries for the fairy lights are flat. They haven't released the line up but it doesn't really matter as I'll be *******sd on red wine while the other half looks on disapprovingly and frequently reminds me that 'they are your kids too' as she tries her best Kofi Anan impression on overtired and emotional children.
Anyone with saucepans, Just So festival in Cheshire is fab if you like whimsical stuff. Loads of stuff for kids and big kids alike. We’ve been about 3 times and it’s been bloody ace each time. No one famous plays, although the Bagdhaddies headlined the last time we went... like Madness on steroids.
Sounds rather like Larmer Tree... lots of yummy mummies and chaps in top hats with flying goggles, snacking on organic mung beans from stalls that have the word Artisan in at least every other menu choice. Great fun, excellent people watching, and plentiful beer tents. With camping and music and comedy and theatre and craft workshops and what more could you want
I can't decide at the moment. We enjoyed Latitude a couple of years back but it felt a bit like a one-off. I like the idea of a Blues festival but quite a few don't have organised camping.
eeeek! i keep looking at this thread and so many things sound appealing but am resisting booking stuff too far in advance to keep other possibilities and opportunities open for next year... which is both exciting and bloody frustrating!
And now I've just spotted The Selecter are also doing a 40th Anniversary tour this time next year; could be a good year for live music. Obviously already have The Specials to look forward to in April Bring it on!!
Agreed, Victorious has been very good these last two years - and it's not too expensive either which is nice. Some crackin' headliners too. They're gonna have to go some to top Paul Weller this year and Stereophonics the year before, but I'm sure they will Look forward to reading the travel stories on the website!
Never been to Cornbury but I was thinking if it for next year, before a) I lost the job (£500 for two plus camper van pitch) and b) got the dog. I LOVE festivals though but like @scrooge95 I seem to be the only one who does among my mates.
We enjoy Lakefest. Early low prices though you gamble on not knowing who are in the lineup. Always chilled out though and the kids love it!
