  1. looking good, I love the colour. You can pick up hubcaps second hand regularly just make sure they are the deep ones.

  2. Got a set of 5 hub caps off eBay, so plan is to use the spare to complete my original set that I'll polish up and then flog the 4 extras.
My new number plates arrived too...

Made a start on fitting the new canvas on my pop top, absolute nightmare. Does anyone have any tips or links to a decent guide? I think my van is a Devon pop top with the flat side. [IMG]

  4. Thanks, I am pretty chuffed with how the colours are coming together. I am hoping the bumpers will come back from the painters soon and then it'll look like a proper camper!!

  5. Oh and photo bucket stopped free hosting of pictures the gits :(

  6. Yeah how frustrating, I will at some point go through the thread and change the photos but it's a task for a rainy day

  7. @67westy was looking into this, he had an beta add on to chrome but not seen him recently.

  8. Interest seemed to wane a bit on here so I was working on the earlybay version :) made quite a few improvements on the photobucket side so I can do a test run over here and let people try it if there is interest

Managed to get the new canvas on, isn't yet perfect but with a bit of tweaking and some trim to hide staples, it should do a good job!

There's another thread on Mech Tech about sliding door catch but it's really easy ... hook the bent end of the spring round the catch and push the other end with a flat screw driver into the recess in the casting... more obvious when you look at it

  13. Thanks,

I had a spring delivered the other day, fits much better than the one I tried to make with a clothes peg spring!

  14. Thought about a clothes peg spring ourselves! But the real thing does work quite well!... nice work on the van by the way.. she looks great

  15. So I've been plodding away at the interior and finishing odd jobs I've started. Off to aus in October so need to begin wrapping the project up! Had the mot booked for today so took the girl out for a quick spin thus morning to check everything was working well, a little rough to begin with, back fired a bit but then went okay but then I felt the front were sticking. So back home it was, wheel off, calliper off and tried to free the cylinders off. Mot time was fast approaching to put everything back together and crossed my fingers. Drove to the mot test centre, brakes were pretty warm when I arrived but turns out the chap doing the mots had a bay window himself and said his always seize after being left for a while so half hour later, I drove home with a pass certificate and a job for tomorrow.
Interior is getting there, waiting on bumpers to come back from sprayers and mother to do the curtains. Would be lovely to have it fully finished by next weekend.

  17. But I did have my first breakdown, battery went flat whilst driving... I suspect the alternator isn't charging since when running, battery's voltage is 12 and so is the alternators live Am I right in thinking it should be 13/14 if it's charging?

A good alternator should be giving out about 14.2, might just need new brushes. Check all your main connections especially earth straps , the one gearbox to chassis as well.

Does the ignition/battery warning light go out once the engine starts? The alternator won’t work if the warning light doesn’t.

  20. The light remains on when driving. I assumed that meant it was telling me it was charging but thinking about it, it's a warning light isn't it...
