I'm planning of fitting my mud flaps soon. The picture above clears up my question about the back flaps, but does anybody have a picture of the front fixing. I think I've seen them attached into the rear of the jacking points, but wanted to check before drilling into these and as I have a side step (that the other half likes, so it can't be removed) I was wondering how it is meant to be attached.
    Thanks

  3. I think @scrooge95 might have a nice pic of the fronts?

  4. You do need a bracket, I believe.

    I do indeed :)

@Chrisd I’ve got side belly pans, so behind the jacking point isn’t an option, mine have to go on the front of it.

The side step isn’t a problem with them mounted on the wheel side

  6. I've got an irrational image of reversing over a kerb, the flap catching under the wheel and pulling the jacking point off the van.

It's a constant worry. It's a wonder I ever get to sleep at night ;)
Mind you, now you've made me think about it.......

Thanks, that is really useful. I may need to follow your method due to side step, but my jacking point looks different to yours. I'll report back.

  9. Where'd ya get the brackets?

  10. ...then the jacking-point-less van running out of control, crashing into an orphanage and exploding

    That would be worse.

  11. Leave it with me, I'll think of something.....

I wouldnt worry about catching the flap and tearing the sill off - after all its only a bit of plastic with two small holes in it - the flap will just rip off.

Having those aluminium steps, and hooking the end of a high kerb with it is much more of an unpleasant experience - I broke my step hitting a kerb, so I took the steps off, and @1973daisey trashed a jacking point coming out of the campsite area at Volksworld one year.

Of course I have to be different... 20220705_183833.jpg
Square section stainless box section, bolts through into rivnuts. Built up with lots of underseal under the box sections and on top to encourage water to run off.

With absolutely new tyres it just barely rubs with the wheels turned the correct amount. I can hear it but the bolt heads dont seem to be abraded.

Aim of the game to protect as much as possible including jacking points.
