Tax renewal time for the first time since the new arrangements came in. Havent had an MOT for some months now. Last time I looked you had to tax at the post office and complete a form V112 to declare MOT exemption. Have I got that right? Anyone done this (I would guess so)? Many thanks.
Just googled it and it says you can do it online, unless: If this is the first time applying for the historic vehicle class, you cannot claim exemption online. This must be done at your local Post Office.
There's a box to tick....but when you've done all that, you worry that you might not have clicked on it, so you check Mot site, which says MoT expired. Then you worry for a bit longer, then forget about it.. job done !
Having recently done this I had to get a birth certificate from VW , now free and done online takes approx 3 days Take registration document and proof of age if vehicle first registered after 1978 to main post office for them to send off with correct form to change taxation class You can post it yourself, might be easier as most post offices haven’t got a scooby Hey presto road fund license exempt !! Hopefully if their admin works

It is VW U.K. that do it, not sure whether it is instead of or as well as the German Site, heard mixed answers
