Managed to get my old one repaired (white one in photo) so the one I bought is no longer needed Anyway it didn't fit as it could be for an earlier bay. Perhaps a different buffer is needed. So the one for sale, part no VW 214843339A (see photo's) is priced at what I paid - £95.00 including postage (to most areas). If you Google this part they are advertised for £180.00 Study photo's to see differences.
Never go out on a cold day to fit a part in the open without your specs Had another look at the part and noticed that the top of the two arms was partially siezed. Some WD40 and a few light blows with my rubber hammer and all appears ok. May well now fit all bays.
