Me and Pips Buster

  1. Hello everyone, my name is Phil and im new to this site. I would like to share some photos of our late bay. It was an impulsive E-bay purchase, after going to Volksworld last year, lol. I knew this was going to be expensive, after being caught speeding in Southampton, where I bought it!

It has had a full engine re build and extensive body restoration, currently being done by Spikes Vintage Restorations. The body work can be viewed on his facebook as it is still in progress.

    Here are some early pictures.....

    Just after we bought it

Decided to give Buster a complete overhaul, starting with the face....

As you can see, the whole front clip was replaced with a rust free, used clip. Also, pair of doors, front arches, all genuine panels, no pattern rubbish.

This is a used clip, after a light sandblasting around the edges, before being fitted.

Luckily the whole underside had been waxed properly from new, so there was no rust.

This is some of Spikes fantastic work. He managed to align the front door spot on. As you all know, Bay doors can be a pain, and this one certainly was! Its starting to be bare metaled on the whole of the exterior.

The view from one of Spikes masterpieces. Mile Deep sick paint!

I would strongly advise, when restoring one of these, that you use people you can trust to carry out the work that needs to be done correctly. Also, use good quality panels, as this will make life much easier.

Ive purchased used, second hand panels and all jack in points and other parts from Alan Schofield, very helpful!

Im looking for some advice, if any one can help me, about some good quality window and door seals that will fit well.
