Hi, I'm hoping those more knowledgeable than I can help out. I have been offered a brand new set of Mahle 94mm Type 1 pistons and am trying to understand the costs associated with modifying a case and heads so I can fit them. I am based near Hereford (that's near the Welsh border for those of you that have never visited this lovely county). Can anyone enlighten me as to the likely cost of the machining required and possibly even recommend some machine shops (preferably that they have first hand experience of)? Any help would be most welcome! Cheers. TCD.
I know an excellent machine shop in Redditch..CNC Precision Ltd, they are old school so may be able to help (they have Rolls Royce accreditiation, AW Helicopters, BAE, Messier Dowty etc). Phone number is 01527 596727 (if you mention Mark @ HBM nCode, they will help)
No I didn't know Mike had left, i do know he was ill a white back though. Keith is still 'old skool' I haven't used them since I left IncoTest so a few years now, our labs do most of our own stuff in-house now, we just use PS Marsdens near Nottingham for the complicated stuff like corner crack, r-curve notching and the like
I think it was a year or so ago, last time I spoke to him, he was planning a US road trip with some mates in a Winnebago...whilst he was still fit! Top bloke is Mike, met him once at the Mcdonalds on the A38 near The Belfry, he could not understand the concept of burgers from a cardboard box, bbq was the only way to get proper burger tastes
