Before he died Warren Mitchell said the show was designed to have a go at the white racist element in society, it was not racist towards black people but unfortunately all the thickies saw it that way.. Me and my dad used to watch it and had a good laugh.

Apparently, or so my kids told me, as I asked them this just the other day, the equivalent of this sort of thing is to be called ‘wimpy kid’ , after the popular books. If you wear specs, you are known as ‘Potter’, etc.
Name calling will always happen, that’s how nicknames happen. Some will stay with the person for life, like mine has!
