losing power under load

  1. So can that be checked or is it time to renew it?

  2. Pretty sure there is a way to check the pressure in a manual. Mine was a different engine but had twin carbs, I tried everything but bypassed the fuel pressure check because I hadn't done one before. I'm sure someone will help you out with what pressure and how you need to check yours. My symptoms were, loss of power in particular uphill and juddering on certain roads which I first assumed was the clutch, it was the fuel pump.

  3. So...clutch or fuel pump...?
Well I climbed underneath to try and see a part number on the fuel pump, but found the whole area very oily. Could that be the oil seal to the clutch leaking and causing slip?
Besides that, couldn't see a part number. Does anyone know which Facet Cube will do the trick? GSF do one that looks like the cube but no make is listed. I'm wondering if this would be OK?

My bus quickly looses power on hills...it's a 2L auto.....Runs fine in all other respects...is the panel suggesting that just a tweak of the fuel pump regulator may solve the problem?...any side effects in increasing pressure?
Presently in Wales and sick of going up hills at 40, however big a run up I take!

  5. All I can say is that I had the same symptoms and my fuel pump was knackered. Your best bet is to test it. Not sure how you test yours but mine was a manual pump and the test procedure was in the Bentley manual.
