Looking to make contact with people who have been ripped off by Campervan restorers

I had a similar experience with a so called paint and bodyshop...long story short: he had it for 12 months, used cheap paint, did a crap job, 'lost' about £500 worth of parts, put a dent the sill, all the while allowing his 14 year old son to drive it up and down the yard for laughs.....he then put the bus into storage after I refused to pay in full (I'd paid half upfront)...cab doors, tailgate, sliding door, track covers and grille literally thrown in the back...had to pay £150 for an engineer's report, and £500 to get my own vehicle out of storage...
what makes the entire thing worse, he was legally entitled to do this under lien...
Small claims would have been a nailed on win for me, BUT....there was no guarantee I'd see any refund...it would be up to him to agree some form of recompense, assuming he gave a flying feck about his 'professional reputation'...very, very cynical since then

The guy in question is called Steve Farell, lives in Bolton...a serial cheat, compulsive liar and all round toss pot...I'm surprised he's still walking tbh, as he's ripped off quite a few folk, I've since discovered

 

That's awful. As someone who is honest and has a conscious I still find it hard to believe there are such scumbags out there. I guess I've been lucky to have not encountered this type of person before!

 

We came close to this with being persuaded to cough up money for parts earlier on in the resto.

In our case the restorers did a good job despite nearly going under because they bought a cheap secondhand paint oven which needed a new controller which ended up costing as much as a complete new oven. I believe them I was visiting regularly.
And then it turned out that the bosses son was showing off to girlfriends by stealing money from the business to take them out..


They only slightly annoyed me when they started fixing another bus and finishing it before mine .. But that one was just a few paint patches.

Come the day they said it was ready we rushed in paid the money and took the bus. They did it for the agreed price, did a good job but nearly went under several times while they had our bus.

 

it's why I locked it up for over 2 years before I could be arsed working on it again...coincided with a lot of other life stuff

still saving up for a proper paint job...
