  1. Welded some metal back into the arch and rear corner.

    Bit of filler.

Some paint on the side cover.

I think it might need cleaning inside the rear vent.

Couple more bits sorted and painted.

  4. Made a cardboard chassis leg while sat infront of the TV last night. Just needs transfering to steel now.

I could just buy one for a shade under £40 but its £40 i could spend on something else plus i's still have to make an extra couple of bits anyway.

  6. Made a start cutting the steel to size before I ran out of cutting discs.
£4.90 for 10 new ones off ebay but not gonna be here for another 2 or 3 days. :(

I need to remove the push rod from the servo but can't get to my manual as it's under the bed in the full van and I can't figure out how it comes off the servo.
Found the brake pedal push rod has a broken return spring too.

The rod from the brake pedal to the servo / master cylinder?

Its a clevis pin type joint at the pedal end from memory, you disconnect the pin at the brake pedal and move that out of the way (you'll understand when you undo it) then its a locknut at the servo end, undo and voila :)

  8. I removed the clevis pin but the pedal connection gets in the way so it can't be unscrewed.

I think a bit of brute force and ignorance will be needed.

I wonder if we had our brake pedal removed when we connected the bar up...t'was a few years ago

  12. Realised that if you push the pedal down with the rod undone at the clevis pin then theres enough space to unscrew the rod.
That said, i need to put it back together again so i can turn the van around to face the other way and i don't fancy trying to stop it on a sloping drive with just the handbrake.

Gave the rear arch a sand and a coat of red oxide primer.

  13. Chopped out the side of the rotten end of the rear chassis rail, welded the nuts back on the rear bumper mount and made a new side from 2mm steel and welded it in. Quick coat of red oxide primer and its ready for some seam sealer.
I did spend more time removing things that were in the way that actually doing the work though.

  15. Gonna turn it round this afternoon so i can start chopping the front chassis leg out.
There was only about 8" of space under the front bumper but with it facing the other way there should be about a foot more which makes working under it a lot easier.

Do you have a tow bar fitted? I wondered what the third nuts in the chassis rails were for.

  17. Yep. The front most bolt is the end of the towbar. The other two go through the bumper mounts and the towbar.

Rain stopped play this afternoon. :(
I got it turned around, with the front up on a pair of ramps and managed to cut a little bit of metal out.
Still haven't worked out how to remove the servo pushrod. I know it just unscrews but the bellows bit turns too so do i remove that first?

  18. Have you undone the locking nut?

Is it like this one? Don’t bother with the first 3½ minutes, 3:40 on.

  20. Not yet. Wasn't sure if it was just for adjustment of its length as still can't get to my manual.

Thats it. Makes more sense as a video rather than a couple of piccies. ;)
