  1. Great looking Bus , How much did you lower it by ? Love the way it sits on them rims

  2. Great Bus, and I'd like those stripes on it as well. Guess they don't need to be there for MOT. That may be a campsite, cider, afternoon. LOL

  3. Good luck with the MOT dude, got mine yesterday after a load of years graft! well worth all the effort.

Straight to the post office for 12 months of their finest free road tax and then off for a few little journeys, 80 miles worth in fact.

  7. Congratulations

  8. Now over 220 miles on the clock! Which includes two picnics and a trip to the seaside.
Rear spring plates are hitting the stops so have ordered some horseshoe plates from Buttys bits so I can put the spring plates back where they should be. Anybody know which shocks I will need with the horseshoe plates?

  11. Thanks everybody, it's been four years of mixed emotions, ever increasing budgets and never ending arguments over colour choice but now we look back and think it was all worth it!
Seen a few other busses on the road this weekend who gave a wave or thumbs up, reminds me why I wanted to get back into Aircooled vw's.

Horsehoes or springplates the shock lower mounting stays attached to the wheel hub so same as you have if the height is staying the same. i.e. shorter than standard.

  14. Was dubious about using the horseshoe plates and what they would do ride wise.
Put the spring plates back to standard, fitted the horseshoe plates and I can honestly say that the improvement in ride quality is great.

  15. Well its been a while and as with all projects its still evolving!
Lola has a new engine as the old one decided its time had come.
We have had lots of use out of her, definitely part of the family now.
A few recent changes to ride height have occurred!

    Transporterhaus adjustable rear spring plates,
French Slammer 4 inch front beam with dropped spindles
    KYB's all round
Rear notches to clear A-Arm and driveshaft (only small ones though, don't do rake!)

Drives better than it did do with the adjustable standard beam on, no knocks, bangs or harsh ride now!
Even with it so much lower than it was previously I can now drive down my road (old country road that straddles two different councils so neither look after it) without fear of banging my head on the headliner!

  16. Fantastic looking bus - I've been a bit down on my own project of late and this had given me a great pick me up. Good job!

  18. Thanks! I'm sticking with the steel wheels and caps, was never happy with the Fuchs if I'm honest, why they come in a 20mm offset I don't know!
