Seems the original posters is wrong His should have the round threaded adjustable rod going from the front handle to the top of the rear mech and the bar going from the bottom of the rear mech to the spring crossed over then a rod to the locating hole on the door. Mine seems correct apart from the spring not crossing over.
I could do with someone measuring the hooked rod that goes from the spring to the locating hole in the door. All I can imagine is wrong with mine is that part is too short.
I know what your saying owen and if it hadn’t been pointed out to me I would have been happy with it. Now I know it’s not as it should be it’s going to niggle me
There must be two types of spring Mine and yours are open with no tension on them The one in the pic below is crossed with no tension on it
I agree, ours unwind as they’re tensioned, the ones that cross over wind-up. Fit the panel and forget about it. Mine has worked for more than 40 years and I’m not about to change it.
The parts list shows the change point from cable to rod between the locks but I can only find one spring when obviously there are (at least) two types. I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.
I’ve found other parts on my van that are on other vans but not in the parts catalogue so it’s not 100% accurate.
Hello Everyone so finally got the door to shut! @paradox you were correct my spring was the wrong way round. To everyone who helped thank you, it's the reason I'm on this forum.
I'm confused now as my slider locks and unlocks from inside, I have 2 cable assemblies, but I don't have a spring? Is mine the earlier version?
