Forgive my ignorance but our van has a leisure battery installed, opposite side to the original one, and seems to have all the correct gubbins attached and fuse board etc, I would presume that it charges up at the same time as the main battery ie when motoring along at a healthy 50 Mph,
would it then be the case that it would be wired up just to run the radio lights water pump when the van is parked up or is it just extra battery power which just lasts longer.
I ask this as I am considering adding a Waeco coolbox as in the Devon Eurovette in show us your ride, if that was left on over night would it run both batteries down
    Thanks

  2. You could try taking the earth connector off the battery and see what bits don't work anymore.

  3. It should be connected to the other battery via a relay that is switched on by a wire on the alternator so that it only connects when the engine is charging
It should be independent from. The main battery and the extra fuse box supplys constant power from the LB to whatever you want to connect it to.
Usually fridge, 12v socket, inverter, interior lights, tv, radio and any other gadgets thst aay it wont kill your main battery
Bear in mind a fridge will drain a battery very quickly. Better on mains or gas when you're parked.

they will share the same earth.......

  5. Yes, but for any devices wired to the Leisure Battery, removing the earth wire means that the circuit will not be completed and it won't work. It doesn't matter that there's a common earth, it's all about completion of the circuit.

  6. waeco do both thermoelectric and compressor cool boxes/fridges - thermo electric ones are cheaper and use much more power, compressor ones use less power are more expensive and get colder.
