Driving past the local metal recycling place today i saw a bay camper getting lifted onto the top of the pile with one of those huge grabbers on a crane. It still had its engine, gearbox, front beam and interior too though after using the grabber its now all knackered.
Didn't have any plates on it that i could see but if anyone in Cumbria is missing a late bay devon i know where it is. I really hate the 'end of life' vehicle centres as once its in one its disposal only. Shredder here we come. I missed out on a '72 camper a few years back because i never asked in time what was going to happen to it. They had to pay to get rid of it and were a little dissapointed when i told them i'd have paid them. :'(
a parts dealer I know met a new contact recently , he said that the guy weighed in a splitty for £300 2 weeks before he met him ....true story
just goes to show, there are still monies to be made if you know where to look, i keep praying an old unknown relative has a fully heated barn with one of everything in it saved just for me when they croak.......
We used to call them scrapyards before the marketing bods rebranded them!! hehehe : Go and find it - offer them £25 and get it towed off or at least strip for parts?
