Just found a petrol leak, which part is this?

Use fuel clamps instead if jubilee clips. They're solid bands that tighten evenly instead of ridged bands that tighten elliptically.

yes will do, it's mad but i've looked at my engine a million times since i got it but never realised the ammount of joins in the fuel lines! no wonder they can leak so much

been and bought some pipe and proper clips this morning :D in the 1st instance i will sort the leaky pipe then replace the jubilee clips and pipe that seems ok when it's less crappy weather.just hope it is the pipe and not that round unit thing.

the feed and return lines are indeed 8mm the fuel tank breathers are 7 i think, if one part of the fuel system has perished chances are its all coming to the end of its life, be sure to buy either R9 or R6 fuel line codan make it i think, the cheap stuff will perish in weeks, ps i have a complete fi system for spares if you need any.

the breathers are on top of the fuel tank, the the unit you pictured( fuel pressure regulator) has a pipe straight to the bottom of the tank, the outlet on the tank goes straght to th fuel pump, dont forget the little bit between the filter and the pump, and while you at it get a new filter if you havent allready( jk and heritage sell the proper FI on) . i have my FI engine out at the minute to re-do the fuel lines, both the filler neck pipes were totally gone and what i thought was an oil leak was a fuel leak in the same position as your, as its on the return side its low pressure so was just drippin slightly.

ah ok, are the fuel tank ones visible? and the filler one you mention is that the thing that's hard to reach? why do you say 2 filler pipes?

there is a hose onto the tank and the other is at the neck end which is moulded to the neck shape, i think i paid £20 maybe £25 each, but they were well shot

  11. On older vehicles fuel lines the amount of ethanol in modern fuel has a lot to do with sudden failure, you seem to be hearing a lot of fuel leak problems on here.

so to do the tank ones i need the engine out? i can't see my fuel tank like that - i presume the bulkhead unbolts? and the 2 small bits on the top of the tank.....these follow round the top of the engine bay area into the air vents and them condenser type things you can see through the gaps ?

i had the engine out as was doing oil leks painting engine bay and fuel gauge wasnt working, some folks say you can do it with the engine in, but it was a bit of a mare with the engine out, yes bulkhead panel is out has about 10 self tappers holding it in, the breather do run upto the condensing pipes like you thought

ok cheers so although not a preffered option the tank fillers and breathers are not under pressure and therefore running say half a tank only at any one time is safe enough until i get chance on those parts.......the main thing for me is the pressure side and the ones lower than the tank which can leak by gravity as well as fuel pump running?

  15. I did my tank filler pipe with the engine in. was a bit of a pig but definitely do able

i believe you can do the top one through the "paint can lid" hole? my hands are like shovels so i struggle on fiddly bits as it is....

i had the engine out an could barely get my arm in there, once i did i got it stuck( i was a little concern for a second or two) a quick yank an inch of skin and out it came, was much harder(ouchier) the next time. but the filler is quite high up in there, if you can get your arm up there with the engine in place i give you 11 out of 10 :)
