Did you catch "no voice man" on "The now show" today? He's turning out to have a great "voice" on this whole issue I think.
He subscribes to the "equal" position, asking that as well as not talking and treating down, we don't set up people with disabilities as being somehow "special" and paragons ...
He's moved things on from making fun by showing that if anyone is allowed to use humour (as opposed to simple mocking) it's only those with disabilities themselves

  3. No didn’t but seems to be more people with disabilities becoming very good comedians and that can only be good .

I think whether to make fun of someone or not depends more on if they have a sense of humour than if they are disabled.

It depends on what aspect of them you are making fun of and if they are in on the joke though. If the joke is to assert some superiority you imagine you have over them then that's just not right.

I agree. But what Barny was saying is don't make fun at all. This discriminates against them as it implies they are different.

One of the funniest moments at work was when I mentioned that my hearing aid battery was running out. Straight away, the girls all started mouthing words without making any sound. God how we laughed!
