    Hi there,

I was into the beetle scene in the early 90s and went around in my bug with a couple of lads with campers and have always had the urge to own my own since..
I've also had scooters since 1986 and these have been my main interest until now..

I spend virtually every other weekend march till October on a scooter rally, ride there...get *******ed..ride home the next day:)
Coupled with me working some stupid hours nowadays - I don't see a lot of my family (7 year old daughter) and recognise that I'm being selfish in pursuing my hobby that doesn't involve them.

So..we are off to look over a late bay camper on Sunday, I know the seller and it does sound a great deal and am pretty certain it will be ours in a couple of weeks ..
To say we are excited is an understatement and are looking forward to getting out and about to some festivals etc..

    See you soon

    Daz

  5. Welcome to the slippery slope. Not saying it's all downhill, but owning a bus is a bit like a ride at Alton Towers... you know you'll come out alive (hopefully) but you'll be holding on for dear life sometimes and screaming for more at others!

  7. great reason to get yourself a bus....
Plenty of cross over between the scooter scene and Buses/bugs.....you'll be hankering after a narrowboat soon enough...:D
Good luck with the purchase....but don't let your heart rule your head....make sure it's solid enough to use as is, or you'll be on the drive every weekend, and your daughter's knowledge of swear words will increase exponentionally

  8. Welcome :) definitely don't let your heart rule your head ( I did when I purchased a karmann ghia) :-( Could have cried when I started stripping it down and seen how much filler the PO had used to hide all the Rust!!!! Post lots of pics, there is a wealth of information on here to help you.

  9. Good luck with your viewing - take care buying from friends - don't be afraid to say you don't want it or that you think it is too much - it is very easy to buy a poor one that will become a money pit - I know, it took us 2 years to find ours after looking at a lot of overpriced dogs. Take a knowledgeable person with you.

  16. Welcome. I believe some have fitted a scooter carrier to the back of campers but have never seen one! Good luck next season at the vw shows.

I wouldn't dream of it... My scooter is to be ridden everywhere - unless it's on the back of a recovery wagon :)

I'm in newark, notts. I went to look at the camper today, very pleased with it, the underneath seems very solid, not to much rust on top at all, the interior is mainly original and all there..
It does need to be put through a mot before I'll be able to buy it,it will need work on the brakes at the very least, engine wise a pair of heat exchangers will be needed or patched (extensively patched) as well,

    But generally it's looking good..
