I've just been down the builders merchants

  1. Travis Perkins, to be precise.

Clumsy me, I knocked one of their displays over. I put a few things back, and told them I'd come back next month to finish it.

  2. If you were a genuine builder you’d have another display knocked over in another store but also half picked up. Then you could randomly switch between the two, apparently for no reason.

  6. Why does every branch have a 70year old security guard with either a gammy leg or eye, who insists on checking your van in case you’ve loaded an extra brick?

Our son used to work for T-P. He was made redundant and given 9 months pay in settlement. Next thing you know, another branch of T-P wanted to hire him! Talk about the left hand not knowing what the right is doing! Anyway, he's working for Spar now so sucks to T-P.

  8. Coz that’s what builders do :D

  9. Same thing happened at the plumb centres round my way. The branch of the year for the whole country was Leighton buzzard. It was run by a young lady who by all accounts was excellent at her job. The very next year they closed her branch and laid her off. Six months later they called her and asked her if she wanted to run another branch!! You can imagine her reply.

  10. Haven’t they changed their name? Confused me...

  11. They were always Wolsey. But traded as plumb centre. Invoices said Wolsey.

I guess cos there’s now plumb city, City plumbing etc etc they wanted to stand out as a brand again.

Tbh I find them very expensive.
