and it's a bit too high..one of the negotiating points in the BIG price reduction we negotiated. Over the coming weeks I'll take off the lift kit & make the ride a bit more sensible.

He's very brown! and a bit mad.
Goran, (who else)! came here from Finland about 18 months ago. The story goes that he was a Police Commissioner's transport hence the bat phone in the back.
Oberschlachter in Finland got hold of him and the chap we bought him off drove him back from just north of Helsinki. The seller was a really nice guy and well into his VW's, scooters, Harleys etc and was selling the Syncro to fund an early 911.

    Haha Zed,
well....it's to be an 18month or so project.
Assuming the engine's OK in daily use , we wont tinker other than to keep it tip top. If it breaks (& I will try as I need it to deal with sand and rocks), then the Audi 1.9 seems a good choice but that would hammer the savings and completely blow my budget estimate for the rest of the work.
The VC needs replacing as it was tight on the full lock test and removing the prop calmed a slight jigger in 2nd to third. That'll be balanced & fingers x'ed the front diff is OK.
It's a 14" made to look like a 16" & it doesn't work. Merc wheels off & steels on. Lift kit off. Seats out, basic fixed bed box in with lots of storage. Removable unit for camping stove, bowl. Cool box, bog & off to places I wouldn't take the "pretty" bay! N Africa, wild Turkey, Scandinavia, Albania before we die...

Basic camping and travelling without being "precious". If it gets dinked, well it was designed for it! Tin top is safer and mini bus look in b_r_o_w_n will draw less undesired attention.

First off, & over the next few weeks, is to get Jeff @ JC Welding to tickle the few bits that need immediate attention. A window surround is pin-holed, the screen leaks and the back arches have a bit of seam rash behind the rear wheels. We bobbed into his shop at Sileby last Friday on our way back from Wisbech & he confirms the bus is really solid.

The bay is the first love & we'll try & keep that for the touring, but time will tell...It's a financial jugging match at the moment but if we don't push now, we probably never will as prices on these things are starting to creep up.:D

  18. Maybe a stupid question but do the back seats go down into a bed as the spare seems in the way?

LOL, I'll keep it a little high if I can. It does look mental in the car park. Nearly everything gives way ...;)

Sadly not. The rear tips forward but the base is fixed. It was an option on some buses but not this one. It's no issue TBH as I plan on making a timber fixed base, and lobbing the spare onto an expedition stylee roof rack.
