It's happening..... Breaking down in France

  1. Where should the filter be situated? Near to the pump I'm guessing?

  2. Also, do any boffins know what the extra two pins on the Cali relay do?

  4. My fuel pump made a right row when the filter got blocked

  5. I've not noticed any unusual noises from the pump. Only the whir when ignition is off. Will test the relay in the morning.

Hardest part it seems will be finding somewhere to buy the relay!

If it was me i'd put some high octane fuel in it to start with, both mine and sharpies ran like pigs on the Marmite they sell in France, both FI by the way... certainly worth a try...

  7. Got about half a tank in at the mo. Anything I can do or just need topping up with 98?

  8. It only takes a fragment to slip through ,if your filter is clogged petrol will find it hard getting through...

Filters you can buy at the supermarche..

  9. I have a spare one.

Although it's a standard one for a carb engine, not a square fuel injection one.

  10. no use then, you need a square one

  11. Plugged battery back in, whirring began.

Remove LEFT connector from double relay and the whirring stopped.

    So 99% sure it's a dodgy relay.

It's a 13 pin plug and only seem to be able to get it from the USA!

Will order it for super quick delivery and hopefully be here mid-week.

  12. It's currently far too wet and boggy to contemplate looking at fuel pumps or filters!

  13. The issue appears to be the relay - leave the filter for now as disturbing it could open a whole new can of worms ...

  15. Just as a double check, unplug the lead from the airflow sensor... as if that's slightly stuck, that'll keep the pump running too

Was looking at the wiring diagram late last night....

  17. Yeh. And a spare relay.

  18. Just thinking there may be a problem with it and its causing the pump to run continually, the red and white wire off the starter goes to the double relay and I think it is to do with the fuel pump whilst the key is turned to start the engine. Once started the AFM takes over control of the fuel pump. It could be that the pump is always on so you are massively over fuelling at times?

    All just theories of course

  19. Are you saying that the pump is running even when the key is out of the ignition?
