  2. Nil feedback ... was going to say scam but they have full size photos and a reasonable write up. The front doors aren't original you can see that from the raised swage along the bottom. Long way to travel to look at it.

  3. It’s a scam. Very common on eBay. Whoever’s advertising it doesn’t own it, but has nicked someone’s legit pictures.

  4. my first thought. anyway no one would buy without looking at it first .... would they?

  5. in scotland too same as yellow camper i saw trying to work out how the scam would work. shame so far away i would of bought this probably.

  6. They’re always conveniently miles away. You’ll likely find the “owner” is “working abroad” as well.

Loads of them on eBay. If you report them, eBay take them down.

Perhaps email asking for some more details...think of some questions to ask and see what sort of reply you get and how you feel about it.

  8. How about this one and check the seller's other items. Scamsville.

Weird stuff in this seller's listing. A lot are classed as suitable for fixing up or spares, but he's got a tractor which started at £944 now bid up to £55,100.

  9. The Blue one seems legit other than the 0 feedback but everyone has to start somewhere, even the MOT expiry is correct, scammers don't normally go to that trouble !! Ask to view, if its a scam they wont be available etc etc

It’s early, it’s 2 birth, it’s not quite as nice as it looks, it’s in Scotland , all reasons for lower price, it could be legit, ask for a contact number

  16. Ask for pictures of the restoration particularly the welding, and also some pictures of the underneath as it is now, and if you get some put them on here for us to look at. It doesn’t look on the face of it like a scam, but if they don’t/wont send any more pictures, then I would avoid - if it’s genuine and they did have a restored then they would have taken pictures (who doesn’t?). Not sure if you would consider a left hand drive bus, but I went for one that was imported from the southern States, and although it was a bit rough on the outside, the underneath was so solid that it still had the original paint on the chassis and floor under a layer of dust, and no rust. Although a non-runner it made a good basis for a resto (see restoration forum).

  17. i have asked for more photos of any restoration work and if they have any paper work to go along with this and as per usual no reply.

Go and take a look ...i know it's a trek , why not take it as a visit to Scotlands clyde bank and make a couple of days of it .
Nip over to Loch Lomand on your way back .
I bought my bus on Ebay for 13 grand ...got a CD of all the work that was done 6 months prior to me buying it .
I looked through all the work done receipts for all the restoration work and it came to 12 grand .

I asked, why did you wish to sell it after all this work ...he replied, was called back for military service and won't have time to use it and the wife hates it .
When i went down to Cirencester to pick it up his wife was the only one there to deal with the transferring of all the paper work ....her very words were He was a silly silly man he spent to much money on that damn thingy .

So you never know buddy unless you go and see them ..but it's the underneath that needs most attention on viewing ,and take someone with you who knows what to look for if you dont ...even if it means going a second time .

Distance shouldn't be a deal breaker when it comes to the right bus .

Set your eBay radius at 50 miles and set your budget at £1k less than you can afford.

Then spend a few days going to look in a convenient way, get a feel for what you want etc.

After maybe a month of this set the net wider, and increase your budget....this should give you a list of vans you’ve seen, and a potential of maybe 4 you can go see and haggle down.

eBay without actually looking at some is a demotivating game.

Finally, many a bad choice has been made by people travelling hundreds of miles to view perceived cheap vans if you don’t properly know your stuff. I always try to plan viewings en route if I’m looking far away.

I’d put a wanted ad on here and the other VW sites.
