Is getting everyone gift vouchers a lazy way to do Christmas?

  1. Not started shopping for Christmas yet, and don't particularly want to either.
Its not my favourite time of the year and trying to find gifts for people just puts me in an even worse mood than i'm usually in so just thinking of getting everyone gift vouchers.
Is it just a lazy way to do Christmas?

Not at all. Not everyone knows exactly what the recipient wants, gift vouchers are great for that. Buy em and don’t worry a second about it.

  3. My sister has just asked for money and myself the same, got a house full of tat that's not needed plus don't even want any trees killed making me a card.
Vouchers are so rubbish as they expire and have to be used a certain establishment unlike a bank note

It's fine. Nip in Tesco's on Christmas Eve to get your beer, and get a handful of vouchers while your there. Or just give everyone a tenner. Or nothing. Christmas is a pain in the brown eye really innit..

  10. Gift vouchers? Christmas shopping. fretting over trying to buy the right present at the right price, it spoils Christmas and stresses folks out. Why do it? Give everyone a small gift voucher and leave it at that. Then chill out and have a relaxed Christmas.

Cards? If you see the folks during the year why send them a card? Just send a card to those you don't see much.

Amazon vouchers. You don't even have to leave your armchair and everyone likes them. My mum gets me them for birthday and Xmas (3days apart) every year and I love choosing new books or whatever on boxing day. Mum is 84 and finds shopping a drag so it suits her too.

We always go to a lot of trouble to get something different for my parents. My Mum would be upset if we gave them vouchers, but often has a moan about what they’ve been given. She gives us a cheque.

  16. Just PayPal em twenty quid and get them to do the same for you. All in the Christmas spirit of course.

Vouchers good idea to me. When were kids my aunties used to give us Boots vouchers for Xmas. We used to stand by the till asking shoppers if we could swap our voucher for their pound :). What could any 1970’s kid want to buy from Boots for £1!

  18. I don't do Xmas lights and all that, but I enjoy other peoples house and garden outside ones, one or two go over the top but invite passers by to enjoy them and give a donation to their local charities. Its great. Try to give a few food items to the local food bank, or folks can join in and help bag up the food donations or do house deliveries, its a great thing to do rather than blowing out on too much food at Xmas when many folks are hard hit and needy.
