Interior upgrade for my t2

Thats my point really. Each to their own i spose but i wouldnt waxoyle inside. Inside is wher you make it nice and clean and warm, not gooey and oily!

 

I use the Bilthammer wax stuff seems to spray pretty well from an aerosol

It's good stuff and in a decent size aerosol complete with injection tube
I've used them on the paravan in places
Apparently we get a late bay discount when ordering by phone

 

As you say youll only spray the bottom inch or so, making sure that any where water can pool is treated.
When you apply silent coat you won't need to cover the entire panel, so can avoid the waxy bits.
If you spray over the silent coat then you have created a water barrier & protected the panel.
Don't know much about dodo mat, I used celotex from Wickes. Very good R values easy to cut & cheap

 

Bonda is very good, paint it on any bare & de-rusted metal. Or the whole floor & interior if you wish. You can top coat after, or not.
Dinitrol is a protection you still need to paint first,
If you have crusty holes.... Then you'll need to break out the welder... Then prime paint etc

 

Sorry I thought dinitrol goes on first? Then paint over?

Ok ignore that.... ur just taking About using dinitrol in cavities huh? Not where I've painted?

 

Rust converter on first, if you use it, FE123, Dinitrol RC900 etc but really is best to remove the rust not convert & encapsulate if you can.
Not Dinitrol / Bilthammer / Dynax wax this goes on last

 

I think I've got lost with the dinitrol - if I understand right, there's clearly two types from what your saying. Ones a converter and ones a preventer?

So if anyone was following the earlier posts, ive spoken to my insurance about the cooker / terminology business. They were fully aware of the DVLA documents (good news) and Basically said that each insurer has their own interpretation of motor home/campervan etc. As a popular campervan insurer They insure most vehicles as a motor caravan and for them this means allowing many variants of interior structures within this, recognising that people commonly do interior upgrades. As long as it is used to sleep in that's good enough for them! They are happy with what I'm up to and have it on record; awaiting a new valuation as soon as the works done! Thanks for all the advice!

 

Has anyone got these window winders? I'm trying to get them off so I can get the door card off...won't budge!! Have used the Allen key to get the first bit off but the rest won't come out!

 

Wind the window up and down a few times.

With the window closed try gently wiggling it about and towards you

If it still won't pull off try a gentle bit of leverage with something that won't damage or mark the door card

 

Couldn't agree with you more for putting a full bed in .
I had a 3/4 bed bloody awful both of you sandwiched together ...was like being on a slave ship .

 

So I've been a busy bee...cleaned up the floor with white spirit, wire brushes, BIG industrial wipes as there was this horrible sticky stuff all over it that the paint and sound proofing would struggle with (bloody amazing these wipes!)....plus some dinitrol converter over a few iffy areas (very satisfying watching the rust turn black!). Next I decided on rustoleum to paint over the floor and a few areas I fancied here n there ...thinned it with some white spirit and it went on well with a brush....abit patchy here and there over some bumpy bits but noones gonna see it for long

 

During the week i also learnt to remove and fit a battery which was significant progress in my VW novice world. So far the bus hasn't blown up and it even starts again! Bonus!

 

Today I started the sound proofing... using silent coat. It's total coverage on the floor and over the engine bay but only partial on the sides of the bus

 

That must of cost a fortune to cover

Guess it depends on your interpretation of a fortune and whether the sound and heat insulation is worth it ...£175 for both silent coat and the thermal insulation that goes on next. Compared to how much some of these VW things cost I didn't think that was too bad!?!
