Shame on you for not giving your bus a name, it’s personal and it shows you love it too

  4. Camper van bloke or a carpenter that can fit things up?
    Any details of him available?
I have the same problem, my bed is wider than standard and all the pre-built stuff is for 3/4 or full size.

  5. That’s a bit nice, what did it cost roughly ?? I can do all myself apart from seat trimming

  7. That looks pretty ...
Seen nice ones go for a grand - but usually 5-700 . Gotta find someone who wants one though , LHD is awful over here - shame it's not RHD , name your price !
I'll post pics of mine when I get back next week. Basically chopped around units from Howdens, any competent joiner could knock it out in in a few days . Like I said , nothing fancy but works for me...

  8. Your sink unit is not correct as it’s an early one . I take back my earlier comments as I didn’t realise it’s a LHD with a 3/4 bed ....

  9. Cut about a bit with all them speakers and light holes. As well as cutting down the wardrobe I also widened the overhead locker thing to go from one side to the other.

  10. We had the same thoughts at the end of last summer about whether to stick with some originality in the interior or not. We never got on with the westy continental interior we had in the van and with other custom bits on the van decided to take it all out and have a layout to suit our needs. Really pleased we've gone for it because very much looking forward to all our planned trips in the van this year.

I built what Americans may call a chuck box which holds basic kitchen utensils, stove and is a seat at our vans table so we can make a cup of tea in the van but the box is removable to be based in our awning when camping. Should have the interior completely finished in the next few weeks.

  11. Any pics of the chuck box?

  12. There you go , sacrificed storage for a bigger bed ....

As i said previously , it`s what works for you .
We don`t get off for massive continental jaunts these days so sacrificed some storage for a wider bed . I didn`t want to loose all the storage by fitting a full width jobbie and a 3/4 would be same as we had so opted half way between the two , gaining about 8 inches .
    Works for me

You sure that's an original Westy conversion?

I'm not the authority* but have never seen one with a wardrobe like that, and the veneer is not like the early ones.

That's not the same as saying it's not nice, it looks like someone's done a good job with bits of westy.

*thus am very content to be simply wrong, and be corrected.

  15. Sorry , forgot to reply

Any decent joiner should be able to put something together how you`d like it , best to ask around as somebody will know a friend of a friend . Dave who did mine just parked the van around the back of his house for a week and cracked on . No plans as such but i`d decided what i wanted and where . Initially the most difficult part for Dave was understanding how we needed things to work things out with the bed pulled down which is silly to anyone with a van but he wasn`t used to working like that !
Top tip in hindsight would be to jack up the back of the van to level it and get a good horizontal starting datum point as joiners tend to use spirit levels a lot but he abandoned it ....

  16. I don’t know tbh it’s got a westy roof and westy badge on the furniture, that’s all I know

Ah ok.....I'm not being negative towards it, just never seen a Westy like that, which if it is a mix and match fractures any issues you might have with originality concerns.

  18. Yeah no worries, it might be bits, I don’t know i didn’t get a lot of info with it. Just told it was an American westy import.

  19. It appears the bed, wardrobe and overhead locker are in the darker veneer which is the same as my 72 bus. The sink/cool box unit in the lighter veneer is probably from an early bus, if it had been the original one you would have expected this also to be in darker veneer. It seems quite typical for the sink/cool box to be removed to make extra room, sometimes they are difficult to get hold of, it appears whoever did took whatever they could find.

  20. Yes Wilf
Correct I have an incomplete 72 cool box cabinet in my garage
With the one in the picture
It would be possible to make a complete correct unit
    :)
