Insurance time again

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by nell, May 22, 2019.

  1. So I've been with the same company for 3 years now.
Am I missing any greater benefits by not shopping around?
    2 drivers fully comp.
    40000 ish miles
Brakedown cover is included but I've got it with my bank.

    Currently paying £167

Happily I've never had to make a claim so non the wiser if they are any good in that department.
So who are you using and if you have sadly had to use them are they any good?

    Thanks all

  2. Depends on who your with...
Came home tonight to find my renewal notice from Carole Nash who I have been with for a few years.
    Fully comp
    2 drivers
    Breakdown/ abroad
4000 miles, not many would do more than that
    Agreed value
It's gone down from 140 to 125 this year so I am not complaining....

  4. Ooh everyone’s much cheaper than me. £210 with JustKampers for fully comp, only me driving, agreed value of £17k and a 3000 mile limit. @nell

  5. Thanks all I will ring round a few when I'm off.

  9. Yeah - looks like - I'm paying £140 (up from £135 last year) , 5k miles, agreed value £12k, on the drive, with Advance ( Highway)

  10. Whooo Hooo to the C15 with PAS - I never knew that was an option.

And no; The XJ8, the 944 & the Scirocco are all on one unlimited mileage policy with the Porsche agreed value @ £15k for just £346 from Peter James.
The bay is insured with Lancaster.

You can’t say someone is paying too much based on mileage and price alone.
Insurance is heavily based on where you live.

Apparently it was retro fitted @Bernard Fishtrousers . It’s only the second one I’ve ever seen with it on. It’s the final piece in the jigsaw to make it an all round fab van!

I wonder if I can put the T2 and the Fiat Coupe on one policy then? I will check it out :)

Give Peter James a shout, mine is £98 including uk and euro breakdown cover, fully comp, unlimited mileage, with 3 mates added as named drivers and garaged remotely from home address. Valued at £10k.

As above, it's usually dependent on where you live though.

I flip every year between Carole Nash and Lancaster as the renewals always go up and if you change you get a new customer discount. LAst year I was with Lancaster, this year with Carole Nash and I'm fully expecting to be Lancaster next year.

My car is the same, the last 4 years has been Admiral - Direct Line - Admiral - Direct Line

Stupid really but that's how it works!

  15. I'm with @Baysearcher . It does take into account of the area you live....in my village if you could call it a village we have a chief superintendent and also the chief scene of crime officer.....
That should bump up anyone's quote..

AA is good, but they don’t advise drink driving.

  18. It's a poorly regraded name and worse, it's just HIC (Herts Insurance Cowboy-outfit) hiding behind it.

Phoned around the usual suspects of Peter James, Carol Nash, Cherished etc and was told that because Clem lives on my drive and not a garage (defined as roof, walls and a door, so not a car port) I could only get an agreed value of £15k or less.
    That was the bottom line.
I’ve ended up with A Plan, hoping they are good! They agreed £19k value, on the drive with 5000 miles. Includes European insurance and breakdown, and legal cover; £160.
