Hi, hope someone can help. I’m looking to add sound deadening and insulation to my bus when it returns from restoration. Does anyone know how much I’d require to cover the bus floor, roof and panels? looking to use Dynamat and Dynaliner
Hi Burttie - there is a whole thread running on this: http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/sound-proofing-and-insulation.86310/page-2#post-1662429 To help you out though: I used a load of flashband tape from Screwfix. It's £10 for 15 metres and because the roll is not so wide it's good to handle and get into all the nooks and crannies. https://www.screwfix.com/p/bostik-f...qjM4OlH9m-CCcZcyGOipOlBdmYm3HbdkaAuK6EALw_wcB Covered all the walls, floor and doors in the stuff then put thermal foam into the air cavities as it doesn't absorb water. Result: quiet, warm and haven't spent a fortune on DynaMat!
This! Two types of sound to reduce - drumming from large metal panels (doors etc.) and transfer through panels (e.g. from engine, road wheels.) The first is easy to do - 25-40% coverage with something heavy (bitumen tape, dynamat, silentcoat.) You don't need the full coverage that magazines and TV shows love - probably because they get the dynamat for free and it's good marketing. The second is harder - you need to deaden, and then foam and a heavy layer and more foam. Dodo mat sort of stuff. And that's not cheap. When I did it, stopping the drumming made a massive difference, and with all the stuff loaded onto the engine shelf when camping, that does a pretty good job of the other. And if you want it quieter, buy a T5 Good luck with it
