I have a 71 fastback as my daily and the last few weeks it has been surging a fare bit. It feels like its cutting out for a second. There is a large relay ( in photo) that clicks very fast sometimes when the engine surges but the wierd thing is that it dosent click everytime. Ive checked connections on the engine but to no avail I also has backfired a few times. Can anyone tell me what this relay is for and what might cause the problem please. any help would be great. have you got any air leaks, sounds like it could be that, the relay make click as a result of the problem and not click to cause the problem
